  1. "90 degrees??? pfffft....that's nothing!!!" /every band at BOA Houston
  2. Holding steady with this prediction after looking at this weekend's results. Although, I could see a "bottom 5" band push Hendrickson of the "top 5".+ Curious what everyone else thinks.
  3. They're not alone...all of our band kids deserve better.
  4. The enrollment numbers freeze/cut-off date passed recently, right? Or is that this week?
  5. Birdville is a good contest but not the deepest contest so I don't know how much I would rely on that finish for an Area or State prediction. That being said, beating Centennial is pretty big...they've been strong this season. Colleyville has a good shot, IMO.
  6. I can't tell you how much this statement bothers me and I hope it's not the case.
  7. In another thread, there was talk about creating separate conferences for the 6A schools (massive schools in one conference; non-massive schools in the other) to give the smaller schools a fighting chance. I wonder what, if any, affect that would have on realignment.
  8. And it's based on 10-12 enrollment, not 9-12. I've just never understood why they don't say "Hebron (AAAA)" in the schedule or something like that.
  9. I have never been able to find this but is there a breakdown of the schools by division (AAAA, AAA, AA)?
  10. ok...my bad. Either way, my friend, this is a forum about band....no need to throw jabs at people. We're all friends here.
  11. Oh....this made me laugh. LeanderMomma? Toxic???? AAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! That's rich. Hey, LeanderMomma...get your act together!!! AAAHHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!
  12. Let's try that again. Top 5 Keller Bowie (Austin) Waxahachie Hendrickson Seven Lakes Next 5 Centennial Martin Richland Lake Ridge Duncanville Bubble/Could replace some in the bottom 5 Berkner Mansfield Dripping Springs
  13. Then that makes a difference, yes.
  14. Is that Arlington Bowie or Austin Bowie?
  15. I'm gonna give this a go.....finalists in no particular order. Burleson Centennial Duncanville Martin Keller Berkner Lake Ridge Richland Hendrickson Seven Lakes Waxahachie Now....trying to place everyone. Good luck with that but here I go. Keller Waxahachie Hendrickson Seven Lakes Centennial Richland Martin Lake Ridge Duncanville Berkner
  16. Hang on.....what? And is there proof of this?
  17. Wow.....that really was a battle of the bubble bands. 5.05 points separated 10th and 21st places. 2 points separated 10th and 16th places. Amazing. Add me to the list of people who were stunned Seven Lakes didn't make finals. Along those lines, I continue to be amazed at the sounds being made by high school bands. This ain't your dad's high school band.
  18. Heh..."donnybrook". Well played.
  19. Adding Summit to this list...they're coming off of a very strong 2018. Silly of me to forget them.
  20. Good grief I wish I was in Austin for this!!! What a competition!
  21. Based on history, I think the top 3 will be (in no order) will be Centennial, Summitt and Richland. The only thing I'm certain about is that it's going to be hot on that field in the afternoon.
  22. I am friends with a band director in the Houston area. He took over a program that hadn't even sniffed success. Two years ago, after a few years on the job, they made state. As the old saying goes, "it's a marathon, not a sprint."
  23. No worries...I'd brag about it! The cool part of virtually every band (no matter what classification) is that they have had success at one point or another...some have maintained it, some have fallen off a bit and then there's the "New Kids On The Block" who burst onto the scene and change the playing field for everyone. That area (Collin/Denton Counties) of DFW is changing and growing quickly. Just last year, Prosper was one of those bands that jumped into the spotlight...this year they have a new high school. I don't know if that affected the numbers for Prosper but it will be interesting if they can continue their success. Hopefully, they will.
  24. Sure. But I would argue it's no more impressive than bands that have had sustained success for decades or schools that have hit a "rough stretch" and made it back.
  25. I don't think that's what the OP intended. I mean, if it was bragging, schools like The Woodlands, Marcus and LD Bell could come on here and drop the mic on virtually everyone.
