I believe each Band submits a script with the accomplishments prior to the contests for the announcers when signing up for the contest. Money has nothing to do with the scripts. The parent in question should ask the directors what was submitted on the script to the contest and if it needs correction or additions get it fixed.

UIL 6A Area H 2024
gregorydf01 replied to Samuel Culper's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Thanks for taking the time to send but that is the one that is public with the placement (ordinals) from each judge (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc). They also have another one with numeric scoring from each judge up to I believe 1000 points possible by judge. That is how they determine placement in the contest; each judge scores the bands throughout the contest and then when the contest is over they review the scores they gave and rank accordingly. I was looking for the one with the raw scores. -

Does anyone have a PDF or a link to the results with the scoring and not just the Ordinals (placement)? -

No Placements announced until after finals. Here is the Finals Schedule. It is top 1/2 and bottom 1/2: Area H Finals Schedule 7:15 - O'Connor H.S. 7:30 - Steele H.S. 7:45 - Stevens H.S. 8:00 - Sotomayor H.S. 8:15 - William H. Taft H.S. 8:30 - Brandeis H.S. 8:45 - Lake Travis H.S. 9:00 - Vandegrift H.S. 9:15 - Westlake H.S. 9:30 - Vista Ridge H.S. -
Looking through the captions and noticed that Vandi won the "Color Guard" caption. I wonder if the Color Guard Caption Rubric should have more on diversity and difficulty in use of "weapons" as it was a "Color Guard" caption in this contest. While Vandi's Vision Dance Co. is great at dance and provides some excellent visual effects (and as such did very well adding GE and Visual to the performance) it doesn't match Regan for "Color Guard" as it would be judged in WGI or TCGC as it's not a Color Guard per se but a Dance Team.

It's going to be a good one to watch. Cedar Park and Rouse are both great bands with very good shows this year. Lost is correct in that Cedar Park has a long consistent history of cleaning, performing and stepping it up at the end of the season. However, I can see Rouse doing well with that this year also. I would say betting odds are even money at this point (disclaimer: I am not betting or know of any betting, just a turn of phrase).

2024 BOA Round Rock (Sept. 21)
gregorydf01 replied to LeanderMomma's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Not sure if I would classify it as a "Rough" start, it was a very competitive competition with lots of great bands and I think they both did well for this early in the season, even with new directors. Vista typically ranks around this level at BOA RR and not much different from where they have been historically for this time in the season from 2018 forward. VR BOA RR History 2015: 9th 72.35 2016: 6th 73.15 2017: 10th 73.65 2018: 4th 82.05 2019: 4th 83.35 2021: 5th 80.63 2022: 4th 81.15 2023: 3rd 83.5 2024: 5th 80.25 -

It was Round Rocks Homecoming so the show had to be cut short. A shame as I was looking forward to seeing the rest of what they have ready! -

Wow! That's quite a stadium, bigger than a lot of 6A HS Stadiums I have seen! Is Godley HS 4A?

Watch for the long bomb Rifle tosses near the end of the Invictus Show. Wow! Just insane and so much fun! -
Just saw this petition getting passed around called "Save the Color Guard": https://sign.moveon.org/petitions/round-rock-color-guard-gets-to-keep-their-equipment?share=37b2b3f7-c859-492f-881b-bae6d3d3daa0&source=email-share-button&utm_medium=&utm_source=email

UIL 5A State Marching Contest 2023
gregorydf01 replied to Dave609's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
Rouse has my heart and such a great show and so well performed! Cedar Park is just a Beautiful Machine, so so so clean! I would not like to be a judge on this one. They are both gold in my eyes. -
UIL 5A State Marching Contest 2023

Great Job Forney! Loved it, definitely a crowd favorite and one of my favorites! Was very clean and I see a top 1/2 of finals on this one possible. The joy and excitement shown by the band after the performance was sooooo genuine and fantastic to see! -
Thanks and I stand corrected. Just also found that although It refers to 1105 for State it does say disqualification."Performance regulations as listed under Section 1105 shall apply to the state marching band contest with the following exception: Any band that leaves the field in less than five minutes or fails to complete its performance in eight minutes shall be disqualified."

Here is what the UIL Rules Section 1105 (Region and State) say: (1) Performance Time. Each competing band shall occupy the football field for not less than five nor more than eight minutes. Any band that leaves the field in less than five minutes or fails to complete its performance in eight minutes shall be penalized one rating. (2) Movement to Field Position. The contest chair will determine the ready position each band will assume prior to entering the field of competition. The position shall provide efficient and prompt access to the football field without interfering with other bands as they perform. This location will be clearly described in the marching contest packet. (3) Official Time. The official time for each band will be kept according to the following: (A) The contest chair will designate an official timekeeper. (B) In order to allow ample time for the judges to complete their critiques, bands will be scheduled with five minutes between performances and a maximum of fifteen minutes per band. (C) Bands may use the five minutes prior to their performance in any way they deem appropriate in order to assume their starting position and prepare for the beginning of their show. Activities may include warm-up and/or cadence. (D) Each band will be announced with 45 seconds remaining on the 5-minute clock. The beginning of their announcement will indicate that the performance time will begin in 45 seconds. (E) The actual timing and adjudication for the show will begin at the end of the five minutes. (F) At the conclusion of each band’s performance the post script will be read while the band will have two minutes to exit the field and clear the marching surface of all equipment, instruments and props. The use of either instrumental or verbal cadence is optional. A band that fails to be clear of the field (outside the sidelines or endlines) or continues to use instrumental or verbal cadence at the end of the two minutes will be disqualified. (G) A band leaving equipment or instruments on the sideline in such a manner that these items impede the movement of the next band into its starting position will be subject to penalty in accordance with Subchapter E.
