  1. Don't think I have ever heard Hebron do anything "Plain and simple" from a musical perspective, usually it is quite difficult. Was that just a turn of phrase I am interpreting incorrectly or is it a more basic show than in the past?
  2. Wish UIL would confirm the Alamodome for UIL 2A/4A/6A State contest, still have it as site TBD in the web page ? Anyone know if they confirmed with the Alamodome yet and just have not updated the website? Open Class Contest 2021 1A/3A/5A Contest: November 1, 2, 3 Alamodome: San Antonio *2021 2A/4A/6A Contest: November 8, 9, 10 Site: To Be Determine
  3. Like your projections and thought process! FYI; while watching the Vista Ridge practice this week I could tell that they are already lot's cleaner than last Friday. Making good progress! No half-time show this week to watch. VR is playing Abilene in Abilene and only Sr's and leadership band members are going to the game. Also looking forward to this contest, going to be so good to see all the bands live again in a contest environment! Also will be good to see where everyone is at for this time in the season.

  6. Looking forward to the Leander / Vista Ridge game this Thursday! It's at Bible Stadium and I think I will sit on the Leander Side (home side) to watch the 1/2 time shows for this one ?. Leander Football looks like they have a chance at a 2 in a row for the first time in years, Vista Football did not look so good in the opener and Leander won it's opener.
  7. Still don't see any lists yet but the tickets are up for sale now to the BOA contests!

  9. Keep an eye out on Weiss, they are very good and have a good chance at a medal.
  10. I am ready and can't wait! Have my hotel booked for Friday through Tuesday in San Antonio! Unfortunately I will not make Grand Nat's but will be cheering on Team Texas from home.
  11. Would be interesting to see a poll of the students on who would want to go all three (BOA SA, State and GN) . I would think that most (given the chance)would love to make the trip to all 3 with the opportunity to perform and spend the time together. However understood on the $'s part. It is not an easy thing to do.
  12. I am going to predict that at least 3 of them will medal this year ?
  13. That's a great representation of Texas top tier Bands with this group! All are finalist and Medalist contenders. Grand Nat's is going to be something very special again this year!
  14. Congratulations to the Inaugural cast and staff of Omega for receiving an “Expert” rating for the 2021 WGI Independent A Class Finals Championship! Only 10 of 30 Finalists received an "Expert" or "Master" rating putting Omega in the top 10 IA guard's internationally this year! Great first year achievement! fyi: Omega is based in Central Texas near Austin.
  15. Biased as well, will put LISD (South): Vista Ridge (Can't wait to see Vista's first GN Show!) Leander Vandegrift Cedar Park Rouse Glenn ?
  16. Congratulations to all the Bands! Congratulations to the CTJ Band on your Gold Medial! If not for Covid as a Vista Ridge Band Dad I would be honored to return the great big band hug we got in 2018! ?
  17. 1st) Watching my Daughter in the 2018 State 6A finals with Vista Ridge's Lost and Found. My dad who's in his 80's was able to attend and it was such a moving show and experience. 2nd) The "Band Hug" at the Break Ranks after the retreat for 6A State 2018. 3rd) My son's 2013 State 4A (was no 6A then so equivalent to 5A today) performance with Vista Ridge Band winning 3rd place with Scheherazade.
  18. Video introduction to the Vista Ridge 2020 show. I will so love seeing and hearing parts of these 3 great shows! They were my youngest's last 3 years of High School Band and lots of great memories.
  19. The first 4 have to be in with Avon, Camel, Broken Arrow and Tarpon Springs. I would also want to add a California Band and welcome Vista Murrieta back to San Antonio and also Jenks to get more Oklahoma bands coming down to Texas to compete!
  20. Two good articles about the Colorado Study Dan was referring too in his podcast. https://www.nfhs.org/articles/unprecedented-international-coalition-led-by-performing-arts-organizations-to-commission-covid-19-study/ https://www.tampabay.com/news/health/2020/06/26/marching-bands-arent-sure-how-to-handle-the-pandemic-so-they-commissioned-two-studies-involving-spit/
  21. DCI 1978 in Dallas, a very hot August at Lake Highlands Stadium, this was my first DCI contest to watch. I got to see the Blue Stars, Crossmen, Madison Scouts and Boston Crusaders. 1979 HEB Contest (My Sr. Year, biggest contest we went to that year). UIL 6A State 2018, Vista Ridge getting the Gold medal.
  22. Sorry ? I should have known. I saw it and got excited about it and didn't think to wait.
  23. Leander's 2020 show announcement will be April 29th @ 6pm. Until then they will be showcasing a voting tournament on the past 12 Leander Bands shows at this link (link and status on Instagram as well): https://www.leanderband.org/tournament/ Already showing 2008 and 2009. What fun?
  24. For bands truly to grow they need to keep competing with excellence, having top bands mixed in the competitions adds that spark and shows other organizations what it takes to perform at that level. I don't think any top group should apologize or not attend, all are welcome to come out and compete. I would love see Lake Travis, some of the other LISD bands or any band that want's to compete in a great competition attend! The Vista Ridge Marching Festival is an excellent contest ran with excellence with top notch judges year in and out (and lot's of fun!).
  25. Love that you found a giant "table" to turn Will love to see it in action again!
