South Lake Carroll gets my vote for favorite props so far! The band kids running around with giant angel fish at the back of the field, the huge yellow submarine, and the guard with huge red crab claws on. Very original and whimsical! Not sure it's a finals worthy performance but very fun and satisfying - well done kids!

Burleson Centenniel's percussion is ridiculous. They have a crazy indoor percussion program as well. That was a heck of a show. Loved Argyle - can't wait to watch that show again at Grand Nats. This McKinney North show is putting a big ol' smile on my face. What a fun show! Love that they stepped out of the normal marching band type stuff and are just having a fun, jazzy blast of a time out there. And performing at a high level.

Mesquite just started. Wind is wreaking havoc with props.... streaming on NFHS. -
For all the band kids reading this that did not make finals (and those that did), listen carefully: you are still amazing, and you still are part of an amazing band program, and nothing will ever take that away from you. I watched every single performance yesterday and they were all spectacular. Every single band is made up of great kids that work hard together towards a common goal. You are making memories, and friends, and learning skills that will last you a lifetime. Hold your head high, you deserve to.

I heard from a reliable source last night that six bands were advancing, but then saw the schedule above and was confused....even with the three military bands included the math still didn't work. But mystery solved - one more (sadly) can't make it. I feel bad for those kids. Unfortunately I can't be there Saturday due to another band obligation, but will be there the next four after this! Best of luck to every single competitor! -

All I can tell you is College Station and A&M Consolidated are coming to make a run at it, and both went to state last time. This contest will have a lot more bands, but also a few more slots for State, so we'll see what happens. Best of luck to all. I know a couple other regions have contests today so hopefully we'll have the Saturday schedule by tomorrow morning sometime! -

Next year, all the kids affected by the Covid mess should be graduated. I expect even greater performances! -

Ah - I did not know that! Well that's definitely a way to have bigger and better bands - get all your musicians in one basket so to say. Smart. -

Huge props to the crazy marching band machine you all have in your district. It has to be the premier example of a district and parents supporting their kids across an entire district in the country. I have to wonder though - do you guys start training those kids to march in Junior High? What about guard - are there colorguard schools the young 'uns start going to like the dance/gymnastics type schools elsewhere? It's astonishing to me that you all are able to put such a quality product on the field with only 8 hours a week of rehearsal. I have always though it would be cool if they started teaching some of the marching skills at the Jr. High level, wondering if anyone is actually already doing that? Anyway, congrats. Love watching the schools from LISD perform!
