  1. http://cpwinds.org/ They are doing a send of concert in December.
  2. OK, just got back tonight from a Wind Symphony that is run by and filled with band directors and private lesson teachers from mainly our middle schools. The audience was packed with families from the middle school band kids. Of course, they are spectacular and are preparing to perform at the Midwest clinic in December in Chicago. It just carries through to the attitude towards band in our district.
  3. You should be, they are really good.
  4. My daughter did color guard her senior year and Hendrickson blew everyone else away. And no, we aren't even in the same district as them :-)
  5. There is possibly more focus on band in our district than football except for maybe Cedar Park. We are passionate about our bands and support their efforts.
  6. This was me last spring: "www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF_ayawPxoI"
  7. Yes, my daughter graduated last year from Vista. Thankfully she switched to color guard in her senior year and we got to learn all about Winter Guard competitions. This year I watch from afar and patiently wait for my middle schooler to go to high school.
  8. Both my older kids just hung up their instruments to go into pre-med and engineering. They did still do band and color guard their spring semester, but they focused on figuring out which college they would accept.
  9. you're welcome. There is always next year :-) Exciting to see the 2 smallest 6A schools take on the giants again next year. :-)
  10. Agreed, no shame at all. They represented very well. This Vista Alumn parent is proud of all the bands.
  11. Well said. I just wish Grand Nationals was n't always so far away. It is just so cost prohibitive to most bands to be able to even think about going.
  12. Just wondering from other's perspectives about what lacked in Vista Ridge's performance to break into the finals. From the webcast, it looked spot on to me and I liked it better that a few of the finalists.
  13. I just love the Snow Angel part :-) It just makes me smile
  14. Visit the shows that are local and wait for my youngest to graduate middle school and join the big band. He can't wait to wear the super suit.
  15. Yeah, a bit..... It is a pretty bad situation for the kids. Vista typically isn't a program that pours a lot into GE which has hurt them in the past. I think this year is the most GE I can remember in their show over the last 6 years, which bodes well for BOA. Musically, they are always top notch like Leander and CP. The solos from last year were stupidly amazing. As we always say we are there to cheer on all the kids and the kids from our district. I know so many parents and youth across the bands how could I not :-)
  16. I am not dissing DS at all, I am a fan of their program. They certainly continue to improve and impress. Maybe it is the fact that year and year CP has a habit of showing up at the finals and nailing the final performance. They have done it to us many times.
  17. I know for the past 4 years Vista band parents have been sitting and cheering loudly along with the Leander parents. Even loaned instruments back and forth between the bands in pinches at competitions.
  18. I thought Vista was your sister school? Much more mutual support between those to schools and band fanbases.
  19. WOW, this surprises me. But just like 4 years ago when Vista Ridge won the region and got passed by Cedar Park at State Finals, I expect them to do the same this year.
  20. Interesting that the position is that ranking is based on schools that have gone to GN's and done well in the past. Isn't it based on their performance this year?
  21. Vista got 6th place after the killer schedule. Wow I am amazed. Great job by those kiddos with zero sleep. I am always amazed by these band kids.
  22. Frankly, I have no idea how they will pull anything off. Full day of school, football game, got on buses at 12:30am, play at 8:00am....They won't get back until 3am on Sunday.... Oh yeah, and study......it is crazy
  23. Probably, they moved everyone else up to 6A. IMHO, they were gerrymandered to stay at 5A because of the football dominance at 5A. But that is just my humble opinion. Potentially over time Rouse High School will move up to compete with them.
