  1. So far I know of these groups going to WGI Championships... Code Black (World Class) Cypress Falls (World Class) Oak Ridge (Open Class) Marcus (Open Class, haven't heard but assuming they will go) Americas (Open Class) Langham Springs (Ind. A Class) (langham creek & cypress springs)
  2. NO that would be critique of his performance. Since I have stirred up the hive, I took the liberty to delete my posts. I dare not subject your thin skin to my posts. This subject is closed.
  3. oh WOW only 3? Does that factor in the Katy schools too? or are they in the same region? if that is the case then many good bands will not be seen at state.
  4. ""Why has Cypress Falls been placing lower than usual in their contests recently? I know they made finals at Houston, but what's the deal? I've heard the show/music is dirty, but they're running out of cleaning-up time."" All I know is that the show both musically and visually is very difficult. Geiger is working with them and Mitch Rogers has just been in to help out. Things are now much more achievable. The music book was written WAY to hard, it would be hard for anyone to pull that off so things are changing. I think the band will be fine, Finalist at Nats? Who knows, from the list I saw on bands.org, it will be difficult for newcomers to break into the top. I saw the Area E show and they looked 10 times better than they did at BOA Houston. Guard has cleaned up and is on fire. As for them placing lower as usual at competitions. They really haven't been a force at BOA regionals, last year they were 3rd at Houston, other than that they are usually 8-10th at regionals. Whether they place the way people want them to or not, I thoroughly enjoy the show and think it is fantastic.
  5. haha that is very obvious
  6. Thats a great attitude to have Miray. I have watched this program for a few years and if any program can get it together it is Cypress Falls. You WILL play well, the drill will get cleaner and you all will be great! I love the concept of the show and the music is fantastic!
  7. I'm also very excited about the Houston Regional. Should be great! Looking forward to the two texas world class guards Cypress Falls and Churchill, very different styles and always fun to watch. I will miss seeing the Austin Angels, their grace and presence on the field is unmatched.
  8. AHHH Now I totally get it! Very cool idea! Speaking of the announcer, someone could have slipped her a red bul,l she has to be the most dull announcer I have ever heard.
  9. thats cool, nothing wrong with that, i'm sure cypress falls would be absolutely thrilled to beat someone like churchill or reagan too. and to the other poster....the lights went out??? that is crazy!!
  10. Why would that make it ultra exciting? Excited that they didn't do well at a competition and you beat them? Or excited that you think you are in the same league as them? Or just excited that you finally beat them. Just curious is all. If it is the latter, my apologies. I may have taken offense at this because I know a few people on the inside of that program as well as many other band programs I saw that day. I was at the Galena Park show and saw Cypress Falls, yes, they were a bit rough. Cypress Falls has an extremely difficult show. It is evident from the music they played and the drill they marched. Were they at their usual confident performance levels? No. Why? Because they are taking on a huge challenge. This show is risky and I love to see programs taking a big risk than playing it safe as many programs do. They may have had it rough at this competition but I believe by the end, it will truly be something spectacular to see. Congratulations to Pearland, they played very well and I enjoyed it. Not really sure what the concept was or what the bike tires, stage and pendulum were for, but I enjoyed the sound. Shostakovich and Bernstein shows from the past are still my favorites. Brazoswood, very surprised to see them in 3rd. This band is notorious for playing well....just a bit shocked! Guard will get better. Clear Lake.......surprise of the day. Good for them. Cy-Fair....best fall program they have had in a very long time. The guard looked good, the band sounded good. Friendswood, I really enjoyed this show. The band played well and the guard has never looked better. The guard should do very well in the winter. Great character skills. Cy-Ridge, nice concept. The guard looked strong...nice costuming. Drop the charlie chaplin suit the "main character" wears though. Cy-Springs...I enjoyed the music and visual but I just could not get passed the band uniforms. I get it! But couldn't get past it. Sometimes less is more. Ross Sterling...never seen or heard of this band. Not bad at all. Drill team could be used a bit more effectively. I don't like it when drill writers stick the auxiliary in the back or on the sides and rarely brings them in the band. These are a few of the bands that stuck out to me....sorry I can't remember much else. I was in and out of the stands visiting with people I haven't seen in a very long time. Gotta love competitions, its like a big reunion on top of competing.
