  1. My opinions, in no order: Celina Panther Creek China Spring Davenport Sulphur Springs Canyon Randall Calallen Lumberton Floresville
  2. I’m sorry, but that was the complete package. That should be first tonight. The athleticism and musical prowess are just top notch. Truly a spectacular program.
  3. I don’t know which was louder: Pearland’s band or their band fans! Great show!
  4. Hebron just blew the roof off the dome! What a great run!
  5. The emotional payoff in Avon’s show is something I don’t think anyone has achieved in MANY years. That is such a special show. Has the potential to get a monumental score down the stretch.
  6. I would appreciate that recipe too if anyone is sharing 👀
  7. Avon 2019 was sloppy at Grand Nats finals, lots of drops, but yes the phrasing was hard. Woodlands have the superior cleanliness matched to the demand. Having seen both shows live. I was truly left speechless when the woodlands ended with that flag feature.
  8. That was the greatest color guard performance of a high school ever. Simply incredible.
  9. Slightly off topic I suppose, but does anyone know when Grand Nats tickets go on sale? I’m gonna try to make it out there to support the Texas schools, but I also don’t want to miss out on the tickets when they go on sale.
  10. It almost seems like the world groups are starting to try and reinvent the wheel in terms of difficulty, but as a result I don’t think we’ll ever see a performance that is clean like those of the 2012-2015 era. Last year at finals, outside of maybe 2 of the top 8, the scholastic and independent world groups had pretty major and consistent drops in their runs. Today Pride was cleaner than they were yesterday, but still had quite a few mistakes. I wonder if the attempts of difficulty are the cause of the drop in overall scores.
  11. I know back at the end of January Tarpon was sitting around a 72.5, but it’s hard to say where they’d fit in with all the other groups. Won’t really get a clear picture on them for another 2 or 3 weeks. Certainly excited to see The Woodlands next weekend to gauge how the WGI judges feel about them. If it’s anything like their show last year, I’m sure it’ll be a crowd pleaser.
  12. I think Avon was more emotionally engaging today, but dirtier in terms of equipment work. They definitely have a very high ceiling. It’s a high risk vs. high reward battle for them this year. Should be interesting if they can get the consistency there to take it all the way. Carmel has such a good use of their props. It’s so hard to say who will take the gold this year. I’m excited to see what TWHS and Tarpon have in store for us.
  13. I’m still in the Avon camp, but Carmel definitely has the more cohesive design. Kinda underwhelmed with Pride. Onyx had my favorite design of the day. I’d say that was the most enjoyable show they’ve had in years.
  14. That Avon show was PHENOMENAL. That may be the most ambitious design for Scholastic World since Tarpon 2016. If they can clean that up I see another gold medal in their future.
  15. I think Avon might finally reach the top again. What a show!
  16. I’ll join the recap train too
  17. If anyone has the drive with the goods on it, it would be pretty cool if that could drift my way 👀
  18. My top 3 would be: Hebron TWHS Reagan
  19. Fireworks. Some celebration for Diwali
  20. It’s Hebron’s world and we’re all just living in it
  21. Surprised TWHS isn’t up there nor is Cedar Ridge, but other than adding those 2 I’d say that’s a good list
  22. The woodlands was so good!!!! I think they can be top half with that run! Such a strong run and that guard was spectacular too!
