  1. Well we all know the question now...in 2025 will Avon be the first band ever to three-peat twice?
  2. I don't know if it's permanent, but before the start of the season Chuck Henson shared on Facebook that he would not be announcing during the 2024 BOA season due to vision problems caused by retina issues, making it very difficult to read the scripts. It would be such a bummer if he wasn't able to return, he's been an inspiration and the voice of many marching generations to so many kids. We all wish him well.
  3. Ah, Tarpon Springs. The (not-so) little teched-out band that could! You never fail to amaze me with your nonstop energy and passions. What an incredible way to close out such a great grand national finals!
  4. Avon's energy was off the charts! They performed that show like it was the last thing they'd ever do! That was divine. I don't really have much else to say!
  5. William Mason, thank you for making me laugh so hard! It was an honor to witness an authentic real-life episode of Looney Tunes. Campy, cheesy, energetic, performed exceptionally well...this was so much fun from start, middle, end, and outro!! That's all folks!
  6. Cedar Park just blew the house down!! The Timberwolf band is a Texas powerhouse with no signs of slowing down. The fact they gave a performance so spectacular and that was only good enough for 10th place a week ago at San Antonio...wow. I'd love to see them crack Top 3! Thank you for doing Texas proud Cedar Park! Congratulations on a spectacular season!
  7. You must be new here. Tarpon won Grand Nats 10 years ago as a 2A over the likes of Broken Arrow, Avon and Carmel.
  8. Wow Carmel! What can I say? Materminds of simplicity in show design and staging, and letting the music and performance take over to incredible heights. The mellos were on fire and the subtlety of the rest of the ensemble leads to their superiority. What an incredible performance!
  9. Broken Arrow! Truly the masters of sudden dynamic swelling and conveying emotion through body visuals. There is no shortage of surprises with this group. They always commit to excellence, and there should be no surprise that they have a chance to win it all tonight. That roar from the crowd at the end was unbelievable.
  10. So happy for American Fork for returning to finals after 29 years! I fell in love with the ballad, and the way the band just radiated pure joy the entire performance. Their rifle line is out of this world. Just spectacular!
  11. Holy cow Bridgeland! What a way to make a statement on your first trip here! Incredible syncopation, very technical music but performed with incredible control across the board. And that percussion section!!! My goodness, they brought the energy and never stopped! Phenomenal!
  12. Very visually pleasing show from Dobyns-Bennett! The color scheme also reminds me of Flower Mound 2018. The moments that the band was giving their all really shined and that trumpet soloist was supreme.
  13. I loved Prosper's show! Very clever arranging of all the Barber material interwoven with itself, and great use of shaping and staging. They've come such a long way as a program since the first time they appeared at this contest in 2017 and placing in the 20's in semis. Well done!
  14. Spectacular run from Castle! Super clean, great visual effect, superb small ensemble moments, I think this is my favorite ever show I've seen from them. Great work!
  15. Congrats Leander on a fantastic show and for finishing your season strong! I know these kids were hungry and motivated for redemption after BOA San Antonio, and tonight they saw it through. Keep making Texas proud!
  16. Congrats to all the finalists and our 4 TX finalist bands. HUGE Congratulations to the American Fork HS marching band. After 29 long years, those kids from Utah finally made their way back into Grand National Finals! I just know all the alumni over the years must be so proud right now.
  17. Lmao a tie for 14th in prelims and finals is wacky
  18. What the actual [redacted] just happened... This is historic! 15 finalists for the first time ever, when he made that announcement I did not expect those names to get called, but super happy for them that they did! Gotta feel for Leander, James Bowie, Keller, LD Bell, Westlake, Dripping Springs, and CTJ. I know they'll all have their break into finals in the near future. BOA San Antonio is consistently the hardest marching contest in the country year after year. So many talented programs going above and beyond! Texas bands are on another level!
  19. It was really entertaining watching all the people in the very front dance along to all of Baylor's drumline cadences during retreat!
  20. 1. 90.55 - Vandegrift 2. 89.15 - Rouse 3. 88.85 - Vista Ridge 4. 87.6 - Ronald Reagan 5. 85.075 - James Bowie 6. 85.05 - Round Rock 7. 84.925 - Leander 8. 82.775 - McNeil 9. 82.75 - Cypress Woods 10. 81.85 - Dripping Springs 11. 81.225 - Westwood 12. 80.85 - Hendrickson Percussion - Vandegrift Auxiliary - Vandegrift Music - Vandegrift Visual - Vandegrift General Effect - Vandegrift
  21. Surprised to see no one else mention this, so I will gladly be the first... Let's go Bowie!!! The band has been scratching and clawing their way back since 2021 and I think their result at San Marcos is an incredibly good sign about how the rest of their season is going to go. I've always believed in them and if they keep this up I believe this will be the season that Bowie will finally flourish and get their best competitive results they've had in a long time.
  22. Holy cow Dripping Springs. They came to play and they have mastered sound and silence!
  23. Slight schedule change, McNeil will now go after Dripping Springs at 4:15pm.
