  1. I feel for the band that was next in the lineup. Had Coppell not been added at the last minute, they would be in finals.
  2. 6A Color Guard was Timber Creek
  3. I didn’t catch Color Guard Award for 6A
  4. 6A Color Guard - Percussion - Timber Creek Music - Coppell Visual - Coppell General effect - Coppell 5A Color Guard - Wakeland Percussion - Prosper Music - Prosper Visual - Wakeland General Effect - Prosper 3A Sweep - Teague Placement 3A Teague 5A 3rd Aledo 2nd Wakeland 1st Prosper 6A 3rd Keller Central 2nd Timber Creek 1st Coppell
  5. Those of you who are there, post some updates when you can!
  6. Wow! Most bands in the area that have a conflict with homecoming and competition do an alternate band homecoming. (BOCO) Our band has done this most years.
  7. Whoa. That stinks to have such a last minute change of plans. I'd have to add them to my finalist for sure. I wish them the best as a change in plans has to be stressful. At least they won't have as far to travel.
  8. I got to see Liberty again last night. SERIOUSLY cool show and uniforms. Honestly, I couldn't take my eyes off them. There was something so very edgy and on-point about their program. They are such a low-hype band that they tend to be underestimated. I seriously expect them to propel forward one of these days in those scores.
  9. I've heard buzz on here but have seen nothing at all. Have they competed anywhere yet? I heard so much buzz about Coppell that I'm feeling more jaded. I hope they do well because the buzz doesn't seem to be coming from them. They are very quiet about their show! I'm excited about this competition as well. 1 Wakeland 2 Timber Creek 3 Keller Central 4 Aledo 5 Fossil Ridge 6 Prosper 7 Creekview 8 Allen 9 Boswell 10 The Colony
  10. “I didn’t see their show due to a much needed Whataburger break (patty melt for the win) but it sounds like I need to see what’s going on.” Was this Whataburger break need triggered by Wakeland’s Whataburger colors paired with their big W?
  11. I've reach my quota for positive votes for the day. What can I say? This was EXCITING!
  12. I'm going to be honest here.... After watching their slick presentation about their show and hearing so much about them early on, I kept having to remind myself of their performance. I'm not sure why. Don't get me wrong. I thought they were great as I did about many of the others. I just was a bit underwhelmed. Almost like when you get a present where the outer packaging is super fancy but you open it and there's a sweater inside? (A nice sweater, but not what you were expecting.) I think even the name suggests more than what I felt like I saw? I hope that makes sense without sounding rude. They are an amazing band. It just didn't wow me like I thought it would. Then you take an underdog that comes in quietly and knocks you socks off. (Yes, Timber Creek. I'm talking to you!)
  13. WHAT JUST HAPPENED? Wow! Some surprises all around tonight. What a great competition!
  14. Sorry. I asked incorrectly. I meant when they announced the finalist. Is that random order or not? Last year the order they announced in was the score order (unless I am remembering incorrectly) and was also the order they placed in the finals as well. I don't know about the order of performance in the finals. I don't recall that.
  15. Whoever it was that first said to watch Timber Creek (was it on here?) was 100% right. Honestly watching today has given my brain creative overload. Just wow. I had a few that were not my bag, but I agree with most of the ones I'm assuming are at the top. I know they say that the order of announcement is in no particular order, but is this really true? It seems they announced in reverse order? I could be wrong.
  16. I've been hearing more about Timber Creek than ever for the past week. Looking at the top 10 predictions now, what would you say might change?
  17. No commentary?
  18. I've only seen one of their performances this year. It was without full uniform, etc. but it left me wanting to see more.
  19. I would never count out Liberty. Longtime fan, and I think they've set the bar for many of the other bands. They also show a lot of class at competitions. I think there are some bands who could follow their example on that also.
  20. I would agree with this to some extent. Money does not make a band, but bands with more money tend to have more parental involvement. I think there is a delicate balance there. Too much money and not enough parental involvement (as a band director I know personally found out) sometimes leaves you with a band of kid who feel entitled and are not willing to show the grit necessary to get it done. Too much parental involvement in the wrong areas leads to a buy-in for all the wrong reasons, which leads to issues with turnover in members when things don't go the way students and mom and dad want. Sometimes the planets line up just right, but that doesn't mean the balance will be there the following year. It's a crap shoot depending on the parents and students, their involvement and their willingness to work toward the vision the director has, and whether the director can find the delicate balance with the group he has. I do digress here, but I think each program has it's own issues, and the length of time the staff has been there and the strength of their leadership over time is what makes or breaks things sometimes.
  21. I'm going to say again that Lone Star should not be underrated. No, they are not my school, but they have been consistently rising in the ranks.
  22. I'm still in doubt about Prosper. Looking at their competition season, they are doing nothing BOA until San Antonio. I still have seen nothing from their show either. It's just odd seeing predictions for them when they weren't really on my radar last year at all.
  23. Chisolm Trail caught my eye last year. Their front ensemble - couldn't take my eye off them. A lot of bands could learn from watching their visual presentation. Unforgettable.
  24. I'm getting really pumped, especially looking at the prediction analysis! This is going to be a TOUGH competition, but knowing that the top 10 predicted for Austin were indeed the top 10 finishers, I am hoping that will also be true for DFW.
  25. I'm not sure about Prosper being that high. Everyone is predicting they will move up, but to Tier 3? Has anyone seen their show this year? I saw the show last year. It was good, but I'm not sure there is any indication of them being able to pass up others. If someone who has seen their show could provide feedback, I'd be more willing to buy into this prediction.
