All right guys i need some advice, i've gone through a variety of mouthpieces over the years and i need to get a new one. I have been on a Bach 3B for about...goin on 3 years. Its beat up and i just need something new. Any suggestions to other brands would be great so i could look into them. Thanks

We play a ton of songs in the basketball band, but the best to me is definently either back in black or Vehicle. We have the family guy theme song is on the way though. woooo hoooo

Thanks mbui. That year was really hard for most of us that were around for the altered state days. So thats all we tried to do...practice, practice and get better.

Imma say 2002...and our results could pretty much tell you how hard that show was...

For those types of kids, we get the section leaders to talk to them. If that doesnt work, we get the Drum Majors to talk to them. If that doesnt work the leadership would meet with the head director and talk about the kid, and in most cases he almost instantley becames a mirror/alternate. We really didnt have a whole lot of kids that would just absolutely not cooperate but the few times we did, the alternate thing pretty much shut them up.

I'll give some words of advice...i hope they help. I went through a hard time at SHS. We were on top of the world my freshman year, then we started falling to the point of not making finals my Junior year. I was elected band president for my senior year and my entire goal was to motivate the band and get it to be fun again. We have always used "punishments" as motivation in my section and it worked very well. I say "punishments" b/c it really wasnt a punishment. Everytime the director said something that effected anything the section was doing be it playing or marching, we took a mental tally. At the end of practice we would make a circle on the field and do push ups (all of us, including the director at times), this really helped straighten out some of the kids that are just messin around. Another thing i would do would be to hold everyone after band, and i mean everyone, and give talks to the band monthly. Just let them know what they needed to know. Talk about how they are doing, encourage them... it seemed to help quite a bit. By that time there was only 1 class that was involved in the Spring band that people on these forums really talk of. Just talking to the kids as a group, with no directors around, really helps. Telling them to get out there and do their best, show that the leadership doesnt slack and if they want to be the best they have to earn it. Also it was noted competition between sections...its a great way to unify. Do it as even an organization process...liek with water jugs. Race to see who can set their water jugs the fastest on the sideline...but make them have organization to it. By sizes, colors, directions they are facing. Then explain why that was important. So there's my 2cents. I hope it was clear, cause i had a lot in my head and not fast enough fingers to type. Good luck!!!

About time...? I know its been down, but we have some very, VERY good teams in texas and this year they should dominate. Cowboys (as much as i hate to say it) look like they are in good shape to do some damage, seriously. Texans...well...lets just get to .500 boys, If david carr finally steps up, we could make it to the playoffs. Again, as much as i hate to say it, the Mavs are lookin good to get right back where they ended this year, to only be beaten by the Rockets this time around. The addition of Swift is really gonna bring another factor to the Rockets and this could very well be the team we see back in the NBA finals. Of course lets not forget the spurs, they are awsome. Astros and Rangers are both doing well, Astros more than the Rangers. Astros have got a solid team finally, except for the meltdowns of the bullpen every now and then (*cough TODAY *cough). Rangers...if they got even 1 ace...they'd really be something. Their pitching is ok...but its what holding them back. YAY for texas sports. (i guess i just gave my 2 cents on sports...oh well )

Your correct in saying they did their show very well...but its too easy. Musically it might be one of the, if not the, most demanding. Visually though, its pretty easy. :-/

I can say right now...Astros are playing better baseball than anyone in the league. The A's are doin good too, but nothing like this. Of course its nice to play the Mets now before their potential addition of Manny Ramirez. That could get ugly...

My favorite part was the fact that not only did Beltran get boo'ed when he hit but also when any ball was hit into center field. That was hilarious.

Hehe Carlos Beltran is back at Minute Maid Park but this time not in an Astros uniform. I can't WAIT till the boo's pour in. MUAHAHAHA. Willy T is the man.

Although im not the biggest Cadets fan...i would like to see them take it home this year. Or even have madison make the run for it. Im tired of Cavies and BD. After reading these posts and such...it does seem that down the line cavies will be caught. I guess i was just so amazed at there level already at SA i jumped the gun. Sorry all!
