hello everyone at BOA competitions, recaps are not posted ANYWHERE until AFTER FINALS we have been SPOILED by UIL!

I had Cedar Ridge in 12th and Westlake in 15th, besides that switch the finalists make complete sense. I think it’ll be interesting to see how the upper half fares when they all have the same judges!

OKAY WOW what an incredible two days!! here we go: Top 7 (in order, kinda) - TWHS, Marcus, Vandegrift, Vista, Rouse, Reagan, Round Rock Top 8-14: Bridgeland, Wakeland, Cedar Park, Cedar Ridge, CTJ, LD Bell, Leander Just out/deserving finalists: Westlake, Timber Creek, Dawson, Lake Travis, Westwood, Forney, Wylie East, Bowie (the list could go on)

I really do think it’s the full package - if they can really bring the music element this evening I think it’s theirs for the taking.

Visually, I think nobody really has come close to The Woodlands over the last 2 days.

absolutely fantastic! Definitely a musical highlight of the day so far - could for sure tell they have that honor band status.

I really liked Wylie East today - the woodwind sound being a highlight! Their props were really trippy and the theming was very fun. Not sure how they placed at state but I’m imagining they’ll finish around the high bubble today. They definitely have a shot at finals - it’s just such a tough bubble this year. (like every year lol)

Timber was great - the guard was really on point! The production value of the show really lends itself to doing well at BOA, in my opinion. I have them at the VERY top of my “not sure if they’ll make finals, but totally deserve it” list.

Dawson - I am speechless after that performance. Whoever teaches flute/piccolo is doing something RIGHT, the level of musicianship from those soloists was INSANE! Rooting for them to play again tonight because they completely deserve to.

Oh my gosh… Weiss just had me solving a mystery DURING their show - ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! I saw the plume on the ground and LOST MY MIND when they made it part of the show. So clever!!

I thought they sounded pretty good live! Maybe playing a little on the hot side from the adrenaline? But overall solid.

Cedar Ridge - fun show! I know the show is “Medusa’s Secret World”, does anybody know why the bubble gum? Is that a reference to something?

United was solid! You can really tell the kids have great visual awareness and stage presence - so the visual definitely was the highlight for me. The soloists in the ballad were fantastic and the woodwind feature in the closer was really clean!

Absolutely loved it! I think it’s their visual that the judges will be hard on - I don’t think amount of fun and score have a linear relationship haha

Vista was really solid! That Through the Fire and the Flames closer is super fun! Has anyone today seen both Westwood AND Round Rock? Interested to see how people think they compare.

O’Connor bringing it today! It was an absolute treat to be seated primarily right in front of their low brass - such a powerful sound!

Round Rock - they didn’t have me in the first half, I’m not gonna lie - BUT their ballad really peaks super beautifully and the closing was just fantastic!! I love when a band really waits until the end to give us their all and Round Rock did that so perfectly! Bravo!
