Not true, 2008 Keller got 9th as well. And 10th in 2009 at that. Now those scores wer in the mid to low 80s, but yes this year ties their best super regional placement.
The Mandarins and Blue Devils both used body bags this summer. Though I did hear that Keller had body bags lined up and the the drum corps season happened and it made it look like they were copying BD or the Mandarins.
First off, heck Yeah Keller! That music grooved like crazy and they played so well on the move. Now that definitely was not the visual execution we are used to from Keller so I hope it doesn't take them out of finals but that was a great show.
Personally CTJ, Leander, Reagan, Hendrickson, Vista Ridge, Cedar Park, Churchill were all better than Round Rock. Better executed shows, as well as more engaging.
And that is a High School Band giving this Drum Corps Fogey goosebumps through a live feed. Phenomenal job by CTJ. Gotta say this year is a Chameleon that is actually visually clean.
Great show MadisonBandMan! Y'all sounded great, the only thing holding y'all back is the visual program and execution. But still a very enjoyable performance.
I think I had them ranked too high in my rankings at 6th, because I don't see them beating...
Place 7 The Woodlands HS
Place 8 Marcus HS
Place 9 Leander HS
Place 10 L. D. Bell HS
Place 11 James Bowie HS
Hays had a phenomenal ensemble sound. I thought the marchers were awesome fundamentally, great posture and technique. I think the design is actually just lacking for the students.
Good luck on your performance, I'll be up here in the DFW cheering y'all on from Flomarching. Taking vacation from work today is proving to be well worth it.
If they are truly better than the groups after them, then everyone else is scored below them. That's how it works. They become the standard that all of the rest of the bands are measured so it's not that bad of a draw.
Wow! Wow! Wow!!!
Personally Vista Ridge just stepped up over Cedar Ridge and Cedar Park, way improved over Southlake and the addition of the closer was awesome!
