I would not be surprised AT ALL if this was true after all the shenanigans that went on at Area I last year.

Yes. Parents have discussed all this and are frustrated at some of the things we see that could be done or done better but aren't happening.

This for sure but I'm not sure about the oil money comment-not many kids I'm know in the Houston area are from oil money.

Not in our district. There are too many rules that restrict any sort of fundraising efforts, trucks we can have, days missed from school, etc.

It's just a shame that Houston area bands don't seem to place higher at state (other than one of course). Very difficult when 3 wealthy districts have 8 spots in finals.

Agreed but it's the same bands year after year. Discouraging if you are not in one of those bands and you already know from the get go that you don't have a chance. And yes you then have to find some of happiness in the work you've done.

So basically only 2 other bands in the field of participants at state have a chance at finals. Sad for all the kids who work so hard for months.

I figured as much on the noisemakers although every area contest I've gone to has a contingent of fans that uses them. So a poster size sign is ok??

Seven Lakes and Cy-Fair both were good. I felt one was better than the other. Hope they both make finals!
