Wow that feels like yesterday. Can’t believe it’s been 3 years since then… -
UIL Area B 6A 2021

This area is just so unforgiving. It’s only here where we consistently huge programs (that have the skill to compete at state and do well) have to constantly fight for their lives to make it to the Alamodome. But ig that’s just how the cookie crumbles. Glad to see Timber Creek finally catch a break here and super stoked for Carroll. -

This ends Duncanville’s streak of advancing every cycle since the 80’s -

These are my finals predictions 1) Keller (extremely solid) *lock 2) Coppell (also extremely solid especially visually) *lock 3) Waxahachie (I think their performance time will help them and hopefully one judge doesn’t throw them off like in their prelims music) *lock 4) Duncanville (can never ever count these guys out) 5) Bell (I think they’re interchangeable with Dville but I think they’ll get in) 6) Timber Creek (I really do hope they aren’t 6th cause that would be terrible luck) 7) Carroll (they’ve come such a long way) 8. Lake Ridge 9) Lake Highlands 10) Central -

I’m really interested to see how Coppell, Keller, and Duncanville finish. They were top 3 and yet they all perform first right after each other. -
I didn’t really know where to post this but on June 23, 2020, we learned of the passing of George Townsend, a father and band director at Duncanville HS as most of us know him. George Townsend was so much more than just a band director. He was a kind soul and a role model for countless students over his various years of teaching. He carried himself with grace and humility and his impact will resound forever with those that were graced with his presence in our lives. His passing hurts beyond what words can describe as he was a light in the lives of so many people. I ask that y’all keep him, his family, and the people involved in the Duncanville band program in your prayers. This hurts so much.

In 2016 my freshmen year at Duncanville, I remember receiving a full standing ovation from everyone in our stadium at our last performance when a giant French flag flew over the field spanning from the 30 yard line to the other 30 yard line. We reemmerged in an Eiffel tower formation while the flag flew over and everyone in the stadium completely lost it. -
I love this statement on so many levels.

Umm I march the Duncanville drill and I guess I’m clearly marching a different show than you’re describing....

Not only that, but we also don’t even pay a band fee. Not a dime to be in band. Of course there are other fees like our banquet, Jason’s deli (hehe), and little extra stuff like that but yeah, money isn’t as big of a factor as many might think.

Area H 2018

And in Area B, Duncanville tied with Bell (5th) in prelims and then tied with Timber Creek in finals (5th)...yeah talk about close. -
What bands as of now have qualified from Region 20 and 5? Right now I only know of Waxahachie, Irving, and Duncanville that got a 1 from the 2nd half of Region 20’s contest.

Hey I’m also in the Dville Wind Ensemble . Ask Mr. Brandon and he’ll probably be able to get the recordings to you. -

Hebron didn't enter into the contest because their director is the TMEA president and Marcus was not the previous winner. That would go to Lopez HS. -

Yes these results are accurate based off what we were told by one of our directors. -

Here's my prediction. Yeah I know its a little hard to make predictions when you cant hear the tapes but hey that doesn't take away the fun in it! 1st: CTJ (came in 1st in their area beating out Reagan and Vandy) 2nd: Flower Mound (heard lots of good stuff from them and its not really surprising !) 3rd: Vandergrift (also an extremely talented group with outstanding musicians) 4th: Coppell (Consistently make and do well in this competition not to mention the army of all staters they produce each year) 5th: Duncanville (also has good history at this competition having won it 3 times) 6th-7th: Wylie and Keller Central (I feel like both of these groups will bring something special to the hearing) 8th and beyond: Honestly anything could happen. I'm expecting a lot of bands placing higher than expected as well as well as lower. Very competitive competition with no one "locked" in any clear ranking in my opinion. Expect the unexpected tomorrow -

With Duncanville changing drill and music coordinators to Wayne Downey (Blue Devils Music Arranger) and Alan Spaeth (same drill designer Flower Mound uses), and switching to new more modern uniforms, 2018 will likely be a big step forward for Duncanville considering they're always significantly stronger on state years compared to non state years. -
