UIL Texas State Championships

UIL Directors should be embarrassed. Istead of handling this correctly before area, they made the band kids go through this misery twice. I hope none of you kids ever have to face these idiots for a mionr mistake. I can't believe out taxes are paying these jokers. -

I saw Waxahachie at Area. Their sound was very good and marching was clean, but I did not feel it had a high energy level or excitement to it. I would be shocked if they medaled, but expect them to be in contention -

Has no one heard anything about the hearing Poteet had? -

You are partially correct. Band is actually a graded class in high school. -

Fridays decision was only as to whether they could perform at area. Monday is the day they rule on State entry or not -

I also don't know if this was a grade issue or what. If it was grades, it would have only been a couple weeks since the six weeks period was over, but aagin I have not heard the exact violation..just assumed grades -

Your logic is flawed. Your statement actually should be more supportive toward Poteet. It seems to me to be a much graver problem when the institution violates a know UIL order. Since the student was not enrolled in an extracurricular activity, it is possible he did not know it would cause a problem. We are talking about a teenager..remember. -

Interesting to hear. We will have to wait and see/ Hope Area C has a good alternate just in case. -

In 2009 all the bands from Area C made the finals, so it is very possible to do -
PESH Marching Contest

It should be quite a contest. I feel Poteet is a bit down this year. They are very young this season, and are still learning. Should make it interesting -
This will probably sound odd, because I was involved with the Poteet Band for 4 years, but I would not mind seeing Friendswood win it either. They have a quality program, and have come so close. They deserve to have their time soon. Dripping Springs is a quality program also. I think Poteet may be a bit down this year, but they will always give their best effort

Poteet may have a rebuilding year coming. The only band director they have ever had is retiring this year. Hope they can land a good person to carry on their excellence. -

Will definitely be interesting with Poteet having a new director this fall. -
All the bands sounded quite good musically. I was so pleasantly surprised to see Poteet take the Championship. The Pirate band is made up of least 60% freshmen and sophomores this year. Their directors have done a great job of teaching this young group of musicians. Looks like Wylie and Poteet will have some good contests in the future.
