  1. Well, bea, you gotta look at the assumptions that xraidercutiex was making. I personally have to disagree, as well. ----- A "band that awesome" could only be practicing more than 8 hours. Marcus is amazing, and I'm fairly sure they follow the 8-hour rule, since they are going to State this year. Reagan placed ahead of Westfield at BOA Houston, and Reagan is a UIL band. Meaning 8 hours. So implying that a good band "must" be practicing over 8 hours a week isn't always true. ----- The second sentence is an assumption that if Westfield were to participate in UIL, under UIL rules, they "could probably easily take it". That's not true either, because Westfield has placed under other bands at BOA contests, including ones that do participate in UIL. ----- Sometimes I get this impression that BOA supporters underrate the level of competition at UIL's All-State contest. I hope that I'm just misreading things, because UIL is rather... rough. Besides, I have to agree with Mrs. Ian. Asking kids to put more than the-already-incredible-amount of 8 hours a week + games + contests is just too much. They're not in high school for marching band. They're in high school to be in high school. If a student is really that into marching, then he/she should consider joining a Drum and Bugle Corps. I hope I didn't come across negatively. *edited*
  2. /gets out a fire extinguisher... But seriously, there's no need to be highly-flammable on a forum. Think through it and post without insulting people. That's not a lot to ask, and I'm not even the one asking it (Dese guys are). Maybe he was a bit flamboyant, but if he wants to be, that's his choice. Just as it is yours to not like it. However, there's really no need to say he's a "complete flamer".
  3. Even if they did do a third part, I doubt they'd drop out of finals. They're too good (IMHO). I just wanna see what they eventually come out with. /sits impatiently
  4. When the moderator says to cool it, that means cool it... not to mention that ignoring a moderator and fanning more flames doesn't do much besides hurt your rep as posters.
  5. Interesting. Creative. I like it. I'm now very interested in what the Cadets are gonna bring out this coming season.
  6. Matt Atkinson was my band director my freshman year of HS. =) He's so awesome. 02-06 Currently in: UNT Green Brigade.
  7. Amen to that part, Skippy. But I was talking about the show in general.
  8. Well, the thing is, what does one mean by "best"? If you're asking more of how pleasing/cool the show was... then Star '93 probably isn't the choice. Abstract is kind of an understatement. It's not something you can exactly groove to. It was clean though. Very. Clean. Being 0.1 behind Cadets doesn't mean much. That's like a left hand diddle in the battery. And if I'm not mistaken, the mellophone line got a 100 at I&E that year.
  9. Ahahaha, that's how he said it to me.
  10. The subtitle to the show, from the mouth of Nicholas E. Williams (Brass Caption at SCV), is "Eureka: The Music of Ravel and Respighi"
  11. Amen to my HS's drum room. Kinda small, but the cubby stuff to the eating rule is the same. =X The annex where we store drums at UNT is pretty clean though.
