  1. Anyone catch Keller's performance?
  2. This is true, but the UIL committee voted since last year to change the rules so if there is a tie for the last state spots, both bands qualify. I think they still break toes in general though
  3. I've been having trouble following all of the areas and the number of state qualifiers each will have. Can someone go through and say how many each area will be sending? (barring anything unusual)
  4. It kind of blows my mind that Churchill and then Reagan never won at all during the 90s and 2000s but their peak was during the dominance of Westfield, Duncanville, LD Bell, and Spring. Reagan has made a resurgence in the past few years though so I could still see them winning a championship in the near future, especially now that there will be twice as many opportunities. Interestingly, there have been 6 conference 6A state championships since the creation of 6A and 6 different champions. I'd love to see this pattern continue and we get some more first time winners.
  5. One of the big questions will be how much cleaning Keller has been able to do in the past week. I understand their closer was a bit of a mess last week as they had only just put it in the field a few days prior.
  6. I think they were just building off of your comment and not trying to correct you. Their point was that area D would be even more ridiculously stacked with Leander ISD in it, which is true.
  7. I always love what they put out as their product. A very classy program. Hoping to see them in finals here. It would be very tough to crack into the top 7 but if there were to be a surprise group that does so I could see it being them.
  8. Area D looks like it's going to be the toughest for state spots this year. Area C will be close behind. Area B is very deep, but looks more like there is a top 7/8 and others so I don't think there will be as many surprises as in the past.
  9. VANDYBANDYVANDYBANDYVANDYBANDY!!! Haha jk
  10. I'm interested to see the top half/ bottom half split.
  11. Wow, honestly some really shocking results so far
  12. Oh! I had no idea Walnut Grove would be AA
  13. Sounds like prelims results are coming in! I'm sure we're all curious to see what happened. And wow, that's awesome for McNeil!
  14. I still think timing penalties that result in a change in rating are dumb. I know UIL discussed changing the rules regarding them this past year but I don't think they made any changes after all.
  15. I read that as watermelon at first, too. Watermelon would probably be more fun to deal with than water main issues though.
  16. Keep in mind that you can only watch these streams live, even if you have purchased them. If you miss the performance you can't go back and watch it.
  17. For regional events like this one, you can purchase just prelims for 17 dollars, just finals for 17 dollars, or the whole contest (prelims AND finals) for 28 dollars.
  18. Thoughts on the standout performances of the day so far?
  19. Wishing you and your band a great performance tomorrow!
  20. Just putting some of my thoughts down for finalists... Rouse Cedar Park Wakeland Leander Aledo Hendrickson Forney Roma Friendswood Richland Lone Star And then maybe Burleson Centennial, or Colleyville Heritage, or Lebanon Trail or Foster... ? Maybe McCallum? I feel pretty confident in the first 7 being finals locks but there are several groups I could see making it into finals here.
  21. Thanks for all of the info on Duncanville! That's such a storied program with a rich history of success. I think they can definitely find their way back to being a powerhouse program, the way many of their sports continue to be.
  22. Doesn't CTJ have some sort of sponsorship thing? I remember seeing some advertisements on their front panels at one point.
  23. The threshold will be determined once the snapshot numbers are available for all schools. Typically the threshold has been rising for each classification each year. At some point in the not so distant future there will likely be a 7a added in as there are so many schools all clustered around the same size that it causes some weird stuff with balancing the classes. I have no idea what to expect for the schools you mentioned as I haven't really followed where the 4a schools are at enrollment wise but I will say that with the growth happening in Anna, I don't expect it to stay a 4a school much longer. Melissa already moved up to 5a this past realignment.
  24. That third block from Haltom to Lake Highlands pitches several finals bubble bands next to each other which I think is really good for the direct comparison.
