What’s the norm for Area D and E? With the 3 for I that would be 29...could we see a combined 7 from D&E?

Just to clarify on how the timing works. All bands have 5 minutes to set up before the 8 minute clock automatically starts. Every band can, if they want, to begin BEFORE The 8 minutes begin, however pre-show or anything before the 8 minutes start will not be judged. The time for the 8 minutes is not subject to start earlier or later.

Anyone know the total number of bands qualifying for State?

Unfortunately there would still only be 5 bands to State. Currently there are 28, so adding them in would be only 29 and not the 30 needed for the 6th band.

From my understanding on the time: Bands have 5 minutes to set up and then 8 minutes to perform and I believe 2 to get off? So once the 5 minute set up begins, once the 5 is up, the 8 minutes automatically begin. There is no gap in time. Seem less.

I completely agree!! It is definitely going to be exciting watching these two powerhouses go toe to toe the rest of the season leading up to the Super Regional and then State. Could we see TWO valley bands in State Finals??There has been some great parity between the two programs over the past six years. They have also been the most consistent programs in Area G. Hats off to those kids and their incredible staffs.

Roma sounded pretty amazing tonight. Gorgeous band sound. That mello color definitely completed their already stellar sound.

This is definitely shaping up to be an outstanding year for Roma and Pioneer. Wow! Those shows are going to translate really really well for UIL.

Going to keep a keen eye on the 5A groups tonight. SMC Finals could potentially see some names from this bunch.
