I guess it really just depends on who you are. If making friends comes easily to you, and you could adjust to the change, you should consider it. If you're going to arrive at Akins and be miserable for the rest of your 2 years (sophomore right?), then you shouldn't do it.
I guess it's a matter that whatever you do you have to fully commit to trying to make it work. I know it would be a very hard adjustment, but I think being content is a mindset.
As for grades, being in the top 10 percent isn't as crucial as receiving an education that will prepare you for college (althought if that's the only way of getting accepted into a college for you, that's a different scenario).
Oh well, I guess I don't really know exactly what your situation is, but I tried.
