  1. Yeah, I knew that, doesn’t keep me from wishing it was a thing:)
  2. I wish uil posted prelims caption and class winners like boa does. Who is live streaming this, anyone? Btw, the legendary Philip Geiger, former Westfield band director) was a judge yesterday. Amanda Drinkwater is one of the judges tonight. Should interesting, very different style preferences there.
  3. Keep in mind that Lebanon Trail does not participate in boa and they beat Wakeland by a hair at Area D finals. I think LT is going to surprise a lot of central Texas peeps.
  4. That’s always been the case ATX. If anything there are less military bands in East Texas than there used to be. Every 5 and 6a band in East Texas with the exception of Texas high, Marshall and the two Tyler high schools are military.
  5. I don’t think Flower Mound was complacent, I think the competition was just tight this year. Some of the scores going all the way down the list don’t make sense to me, the judging was much different in some captions than last year.
  6. That’s why I left out 3....edit: for some reason I went to bed thinking Reagan got third. Guess I was tired.
  7. Great job Leander and Vandy!! I’ve liked both shows since the first time saw them. I thought Reagan was going to win as well, but Leander deserves the top spot for sure. So we can’t say much this year if Texas loses to Indiana again. We’re sending 1,2, 5 and 7 from SA to grand nats, I don’t believe that has happened before.
  8. CTJ was awesome!! They brought it tonight. So hard to be a judge for this event.
  9. Lol, and here I was cussing flo sports:). Thank You for the news.
  10. Don’t forget about Lebanon Trail and Wakeland. Lebanon Trail may not go to Boa, but they pretty much schooled everyone else in area b including Wakeland.
  11. First I should say I’m generally not crazy about Flo Mo shows. However, their show this year is outstanding and very well executed. They’re good enough that I they are going to be hard to beat. At the very least I would put them at the same odds as Reagan...and don’t forget that Hebron always brings it late in the season. Seems like most people are forgetting about Vista Murrieta, I think they are a dark horse for finals.....that is purely based on past years of success they have had.
  12. That’s a great line up. Longview had lost their polish for the last couple of years hopefully they’ve returned to usual top notch performances. I always wondered why Nederland doesn’t come up for that contest, that’s another very good military style band.
  13. I guess I’m just partial to Texas style, I rarely like Carmel’s shows. Just seems like a snooze fest to me. They shouldn’t have any clear advantage over Hebron at the very least. Cards are kind of stacked for them on their home field though as always. I do like Avon’s shows as well as some other Indiana bands. Perhaps I’m just a hater, but I think they’re over rated.
  14. I’d never count out CTJ, I realized I was starting to bog down when I started listing schools that are in the hunt and have great shows this year, there are many.. Last year was kind of meh for me, probably because of all the rain and less practice time as a result. The only two shows I can say I loved last year were Vista Ridge and Reagan. This year is an entirely different story. I was astounded with the potential of the top 5 bands at Dallas this year and after watching shows of central Texas bands the innovation is off the hook this year. I have been partial to Leander’s show for non DFW bands this year until I saw a video of Reagan’s Houston show which was just spot on. I haven’t seen CTJ’s show yet for this year, but I’m sure they’ll be great. Personally, I think CTJ is great, they get pummeled a lot in comments because they raise
  15. This is hilarious, spot on sir. Spot on. Btw, is anyone sensing a repeat or better than 2017 this year. Just watched Reagan’s performance at Houston. Add in Leander, Vandy, VR, FM, TWHS and Hebron to the mix with plenty of potential surprises. My goodness this is going to be a shootout this year.
  16. Absolutely, I can’t fathom FM winning by that wide of a margin. I was pretty low in the stands though, might made a bigger difference if I had been higher up.
  17. I was thinking the same thing concerning the heb results. Great Job KC band! Hope everything is right with Owasso. I had to drive to Bedford for a soccer game this morning and it was already hot. Now getting ready to take the fam to Pennington field for finals, can’t wait!
  18. That’s great for Alexander:). I loved their show last year and it sounds like this year’s show is even better. I don’t see them making finals at boa-sa though. Too many excellent bands there. I would love to see them get there though and stop the domination by the big 4 metros at state and boa in making finals. Edit: found their McAllen performance on you tube, they did a great job!
  19. Might not want to count Keller Central out on this one. They’ve made finals for the past few years except last year when the rain intervened.
  20. He went to rock wall high school not Mccallum. Nevertheless he left John Horn so prospects definitely don’t look as good. However, Rockwall is gathering an impressive staff, they may be the next band to explode in dfw.
  21. Oh no I’ve seen them, Marcus and Flower Mound have outstanding parent support. From an outsiders point of view it’s strange that Hebron doesn’t have more crowd support at contests. It always seems like a small group.
  22. Oh wow, so they’re one of the bands staying home huh. How many years straight have they been going to gn?
