  1. Richland's show is called Barricade. They haven't publicly announced music selections and since I didn't write them down back when they announced to the students/parents I don't remember. lol sorry This year will be interesting......lots of changes all around.
  2. Was just wondering if anyone covers/talks about/attends the Drumline contests like this one? It's this Saturday at Marcus and runs all day.
  3. I've watched tonight, many of them the first time seeing them. Hebron is the one that I got caught up in like none of the others....so I'd put them first, but of course I'm not a judge lol Side note...the last song Leander played was one of Richland's songs last year. Was odd hearing it again lol
  4. Thank you...I should have added each to that line!
  5. http://www.uiltexas.org/files/music/area-music-descriptor.pdf That is the link for the rubric for judging music. Categories are: Brass, Woodwind, Percussion performance worth up to 200 points Ensemble performance worth up to 200 points Musicianship worth up to 200 points http://www.uiltexas.org/files/music/area-marching-descriptor.pdf That is the link to the rubric they use for judging the marching portion. Categories: Individual marching worth 400 parts Ensemble marching worth 400 points Drill worth 100 points Integration worth 100 points Each of those categories give examples of what they are looking for. Then they total up their scores for each band and the bands are ranked in order of highest score to lowest score for each individual judge and that gives them their ordinal ranking by judge. The ordinal ranks of each band is added together and the ranking now becomes lowest number to highest number with the lowest being the best. So, using this contest and Richland :-) Their scores in prelims were 806 + 816 + 943 + 945 + 850 = 4360 udges rankings were 16 + 10 + 11 + 4 + 16 =57 which put is in 11th place As you can see judges 3 and 4 were only 2 points different in how they scored us, however their placements were 7 places off. You can interpret that as judge 3 gave higher scores to more bands than judge 4 did. Lots of numbers that can be looked at in all kinds of ways. lol
  6. Thank goodness my sunburns always fade to tans very quickly! Kind of weird to have a sunburn this late in October! But then this IS Texas lol
  7. Thanks. I had looked there and the only showing on area is for the year 14/15 lol I'll check back.....
  8. speaking of results....where are we going to find the scores once they post them?
  9. Not at all surprised at Waxahachie, Prosper or Duncanville in the top 5. Sad that Haltom doesn't get to got to state but that's just the way the ball bounces......
  10. My son is so bummed that he doesn’t want to go watch finals or TCU. Blah
  11. I was so hoping RIchland would at least make top 10. One of the band moms posted they placed 11th in prelims. I don't know if that's accurate but ouch and yay at the same time if so! lol
  12. I'll drink it when it's really really cold and then only one cup. Ironically I do like the salted caramel iced coffee that Aldi's carries this time of year.I only discovered that because my son asked me to buy some for him and I obliged last year. I've bought a few this year for us both but forget they are there soon after and finally drank one when I saw him with one.
  13. I know it's probably hard to believe....but I've never had Starbucks. lol Not a huge coffee drinker, don't like it fancy and I have a home business so I don't have any reason to go buy coffee. Weird huh? :-)
  14. Yes, only the section that sits on the 50 yard line is seat with backs- 45 yard line to 45 yard line. We typically bring in our stadium seats and don't even try to sit there lol
  15. Bueno would be my first choice there, but hubby doesn't care for mexican food so Whataburger it would be for us!
  16. To eat there are all kinds of places along Grapevine Hwy aka Blvd 26 right behind the stadium area in addition to all sorts along on Precinct Line. Those listed by littlejaw are the closest within walking distance
  17. From the info we got the ones I listed are probably the only ones where you are sure not to get towed. So Lowe's, Home Depot and Legacy Church of Christ. Anything else is at your own risk I would imagine. Adding....if you are at all familiar with the area you can probably park at the NRH Rec Centre NRH Library without issue as well, but it's a further trek and will be not so fun after dark. But it is an option.
  18. A note to those who are coming to Area B contest.....the main parking area will be reserved for buses and equipment trucks. There won't be much in the actual parking lot of the FAAC for spectators, so it was suggested to use the parking lots at Lowe's on Precinct Line, Home Depot on Mid Cities or Legacy Church of Christ on Mid Cities
  19. Coppell was announced as a 1, but I noticed it wasn't showing either
  20. Aww man I was waiting to see what you had to say about Richland. Are you going to write on them?
  21. Our sax soloist has the flu! Barely made it here from care now to play! He’s not marching though
  22. Ok y'all....i just had to come back and say that our band is leaving after Avon's performance instead of staying through the awards.....quite possibly (although it's not been said) because there is a chance for SNOW any minute!! yes SNOW!
  23. I'm so dang proud of these kids! They had trouble before with the electronic opening piece and had to skip it many times, just got their 5th part week before last and had their one and only full/complete run through yesterday in practice. I think they did awesome! Thanks for the support y'all!
  24. I'm watching here and there. I really liked Homestead as well. Thought Center Grove was good (they were 8th last year) but not great. Castle was really good too-they were 3rd last year. Fishers was 12th last year and I didn't really care much for them. Shrug. Richland is our band.....they had a rough go getting there. They had a surprise full bag check before they could load buses and that delayed them at least 1.5 hours to start with. Their scheduled driver change took place way off course for unknown reasons so their initial arrival estimate of 2 AM turned into about 8 AM. Poor kiddos! They took extra down time before getting on with their regular schedule but seem to be fully in the swing of it all now! Oh and the semi had a blow out somewhere along the way!
  25. The info about region came from our booster club. Richland's performance last night at the football game was the first time they were able to use the props fully set up, however they still didn't do their opening sequence. Last Saturday in Mansfield the wind caused lots of trouble for props so they folded their pieces in half. They go to Indianapolis next weekend and if they are not able to do the full show tonight and Tuesday they will go without having done it other than in practice. So really hoping they get it in!
