  1. This is pretty awesome. I now have a Karen trying to bully me with veiled threats for my documentation of this event...LOL....I have been around YouTube since 2010. I have created channels that have exceeded over 7 million subscribers. Enjoy the ride
  2. That is not something I have heard any scuttlebutt about. Very interesting.
  3. Yeah, unfortunately the way that Cedar Park is growing they are going to redistrict a little. I remember the CP will never be a 6A school line of thought. It's just that the growth is getting out of hand, especially close to the school where it wouldn't make sense to ship students out to other schools.
  4. So, while I think Rouse is going to have an amazing season I am not 100% sold on them over Cedar Park. I believe that this Rouse show is going to hurt some feelings throughout the season. At Austin BOA, Rouse made their points against Cedar Park in music. cedar Park tends to wait until the last 2 weeks to really clean up music and dynamics. they have always struggled in the GE department. This season the show is not only a GE monster but it also does what no other 5A band is doing --exposing every member while placing high demand on them. This season feels a lot like 2019 when Rouse beat CP at every show....until finals at UIL. This season I just don't see Requiem having the top end finish8ng kick that I can see developing from Cedar Park. I believe they are going to finish 1-2 in UIL this season but I get the feeling thay they places are going to switch in either semi-finals or finals. Excited to see how it turns out, especially with this most likely being CP's last year in 5A.
  5. So, the Leander Festival of Bands is one of my favorite shows of the year. Not a contest but this is a great thing. The students are loose and the crowd is generally even more supportive than at most contests. Here's links to each band's performance in order of performance (I may have swapped Tom Glenn and Leander) from 10/2/2023 Vista Ridge Rangers Hornrank #12: Rouse Raiders Hornrank #6 Cedar Park Timberwolves Hornrank #15 Tom Glenn Grizzlies: Leander Lions Hornrank #31 Vandegrift Vipers Hornrank #6 Now, I don't watch the video as I am videoing so if something goes out of screen I apologize. I'd just rather watch the show than watch the show through a screen when I am in the stadium.
  6. Here is Cedar Park from tonight. They have made large changes to the show's beginning. Sorry for the audio towards the end. There was a wind that rolled through and hit the mic sending my camera's limiter into a mega digital clips fault that took some time to recover from. But, it's what I had on hand tonight.
  7. Seeing that Rouse show in person, it's a special show. It is a GGE monster but nothing feels forced or overdone. It is delicate and powerful. It was performed beautifully. Some kid (just out of high school) behind me said "No way Rouse takes GE" to the girl he was with. I turned and asked him if he actually watched the Rouse show. The Vandy parent next to him agreed with me....then the GE caption was announced. They are going to hurt lots of feeling this season. Another LISD power showing tonight taking all captions and the top 4 places. What a great contest today has been. Congrats to all of the bands. Scores were crazy high for this early. We are in for a ride I think.
  8. Awards presentation for prelims::
  9. I love Stony Point's musical selections this season: “The Heat of the Day” by The Pat Metheny Group; “Scheherazade” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsokov; and “Spices, Perfumes, and Toxins” by Avner Dorman
  10. Wow! Vista Ridge sounds amazing and looks so good.
  11. Every high schooler should have the opportunity to play this piece.
  12. This is Cedar Park's performance from tonight. Garbage camera tonight. Sorry ya'll
  13. They haven't. I just watched it. Linked to the start of the CPHS show. It is such a different sound from Cedar Park last year and this year. The drill is amazing in that they expose every last member of the band. As this show cleans up it is going to be a tough one. The guard is far ahead of previous seasons. Excited to see this show develop. I was kicking myself late last night for not going to this game but I did not want to deal with the traffic and lack of parking at Vandy.
  14. My predictions for tonight: Blue Devils Class BD(GE/Visual) World Class 1st: Crown(brass) 2nd: BC 3rd: BAC(guard) 4th: Mandarins 5th: Cadets 6th: Phaaaaaaatom Regiment 7thh: Cavaliers(Precussion)
  15. I thought I was the only person to feel that way about the Bloo show.
  16. Noo e take this th3 wrong way....I have finally figured out what it is I do not like about this Bloo show. The entire firet half of the show would not stand on it's own without the voice over. To me this makes the music secondary to the voiceover. The show is done at such a high performance level but the entire first half of the show just doesn't tickle me as the Bluecoats tend to. I guess you can say that the show has done what great art does and evokes an emotion. I hope this show wins it all this year.
  17. Every corps is turning in amazing performances today. Gheez! We may have the highest average score in a semi-finals ever. Phantom....best run of the year. Their dynamics were stunning. Soloist flues happen. Cavaliers: Enjoy winning the percussion caption...it won't be close. You soloists were so much better tonight. I cannot wait to see what they pull out tomorrow. Mandarins you left me in tears Troopers...now that's getting it put together in a show when it counts. The ballad was stunning Colts.... Not sure when you developed such a rich and well balanced sound but keep doing it.... WOW! Cadets....high energy and full sound. Guard looked great and your soloists jammed out! I'm torn for 12th qualifier.... I really want it to be the Crossmen and with the performance they had today it is a possibility. But....the Blue Knights showed up and showed out.
  18. Anyone els3 wonder if the girl who was chosen to play the white whale was a little offended at first until she heard the theme of the show?
  19. Oh boy.... Cadets showed up and showed out tonight! It has been many years since I have liked a Cadets show. It's nice to have them back... And The Mandarins who I have fallen in love with since the Stravinsky show has my favorite show of the season.
  20. This year for Bloo is different. They are slow burning the same as they did last year. Last year's Bloo show was low on my list.....until they hit Indy. Then it became my favorite show of the season. I am not a fan of this Bloo show as it stands now. The uniforms are a disaster and the music and visuals are terribly boring. I believe they are holding back on show development and this is, in my opinion, a terrible disservice to the fans. It may score well at finals but the show is so bland right now that it is heard to watch. The Devs are bland as well visually, they are never bland musically. Boston is holding back. The Phantom Regiment is going for it and I appreciate this (Are they going to kill anyone this year?). Troopers are developing the show incredibly. Colts are not holding back. Why do we allow the back of the top 12 to lead and accept it as gamesmanship. At least SVC has been consistent in what they are giving us....
  21. This year has been exciting over the first quarter. Blue Devils....I have always respected them but I rarely really enjoy their musical selections. This year is different. I love the music but the visuals seems all over the place to me. They are the top corps this year and will be hard to beat. Bluecoats.... I have loved the Bluecoats for many years...this show is following the Blue Devils line for me....it's performed extremely well, sounds good but doesn't tickle my fancy....they should come in 2nd Crusders... When I saw the music I was extremely excited. WHen I heard the concert in the park I was very very excited. When I saw the show I was baffled. They are playing at a high level and executing well. There's something missing in the GE for me that may well be in the plan to add as the season ages. I hope so. I would love to see them push the Blue Devils extremely hard this year. They sound great, look good, perform exceptionally. Crown.. They are lightyears ahead of the development in ensemble sound. God's Hornline is back and ready to exact some revenge. The show gets muddled in the middle. I hope it's a developmental step. Phantom....When I heard them at the Concert in the Park I was convinced that it was a top 5 show. Their dynamics control is fantastic and watching Phantom progress in style into the modern age has been incredible. I still think they are top 5. Mandarins...They are always the "High Art" show. This year is sightly different as they are a little less high art than the previous few years but they have an aamzing show. They will fight phantom if they can pull together. So far they have been playing and marching their parts well but it's not fully cohesive yet for me. 7 on down: Cavvies: Not sure what's happening here. Not liking it. Scouts: Not my cuppo tea... Colts: ON the rise. Sound great and if they can clean up some of the visual performance elements they are going to do extremely well. I love this show Blue Stars: I love the show. First time I can say that in a long time Troopers: Come on...get it together. You have the show and great arrangements. Put....It...Together... Genesis: Best opening of the season and the corps really loves the closer. It comes through in the performances. Crossmen: Young Corps this year. Not enough risks taken but I believe that is by design. Gonna have to really pull together to make finals... Let's go Crossmen!! Santa Clara Vanguard:: Not what I expected this season
  22. This debuted late for field productions but I wonder how many stand tunes we are going get featuring Metallica this year. https://www.metallicamarchingband.com/
  23. Great insight. Round Rock's uniforms are some of my favorite to see on the field. Looking into TOHO, they are a new organization starting in 2017. They picked a great look! Going to make it a point to try to see them next time we visit my wife's family in Nagoya.
  24. And hearing a band in that facility would be fantastic. It's an oval shaped courtyard covered with a glass roof about 4 stories up.
