Congrats to absolutely everyone. My favorites, Coppell and Duncanville, didn't do as they would have liked, but they both had one heck of a show and a wonderful time. HUGE props to Vista Ridge on an incredible feat. My heart has so much love and gratitude for all the bands that perform for us every year. -

WOW! Hebron, Vandegrift, Coppell, Woodlands, Westlake, Cedar Ridge, Marcus, Hendrickson, James Bowie, Hendrickson, and Leander just blew me away. Looking forward to seeing my band (Duncanville) put on a great show soon! I really thought that Vandegrift showed up. Great musical selections. They have an amazing chance to medal. Coppell today showed that they are ready to hang with the big boys (Marcus, Leander, and Woodlands). I mean their visual is just WOW! Leander never fails to impress me, incredible opener. I look forward to hopefully seeing them in finals. Amazing musical selections! Marcus: Loved their music as all ways. Their visual may not be what it was under Drinkwater, but it should be enough for them to grab a spot in finals. My personal favorites: Hebron, Vandegrift, Woodlands, Coppell, Leander. -

Notable Jumps: Timber Creek - 7 places from 24 to 17 Coppell - 7 places from 25 to 18 Vista Ridge - 12 places from 16 to 4 All 3 have a really good chance at making BOA SA Finals (of course Vista Ridge). I believe Coppell is making the trip to Grand Nationals next year for the first time in school history and is looking to make finals. As a close friend of people from both Coppell and Timber Creek, I can't wait to see where this rivalry will take them. -

Waxahachie isn't attending BOA SA. Also, Coppell? -
I think musically Coppell and Keller had a pretty crazy hard show. Double tounging at 170 on a trumpet/mellophone isn't easy, even for the best in the world. Waxahachie I didn't think had a show as challenging, but definitely executed it at a really high level. I think most of the results were about right, but you have to feel for Timber Creek, being the alternate 2 times in a row. I look forward to seeing most of these bands perform at BOA San Antonio, so here are my personal predictions just for BOA SA. BOA SA 1. Keller 2. Coppell 3. LD Bell 4. Prosper 5. Timber Creek 6. Haltom I don't really see anyone making BOA SA Finals from this area except for Keller and maybe Coppell/Prosper (good performance time?). Even Coppell/Prosper is fairly low, as Coppell doesn't bode well at BOA, and Prosper is still on the rise.

Cedar Ridge? I might swap Leander with Waxa if they get a good rehearsal week in, if not, I don't see anything glaringly wrong with a bit of an "abstract" prediction. -

Agreed. I feel like Coppell, Waxahachie, Cedar Ridge, and Hendrickson will be competing for that last State Finals spot. -

Area B was extremely interesting. I'd say that Waxahachie was a surprise, and nobody expected Bell to place as low as they did (you have to feel for those kids). Furthermore, bands like Coppell and Duncanville are favored much more in UIL than BOA. I was surprised to see Haltom and Bell fairly low, and see perhaps Prosper and Coppell overtake them at BOA SA, especially because Prosper, Coppell, and Haltom go right after each other. -

1. Ronald Reagan 2. Flowermound 3. Vista Ridge 4. CTJ 5. Vandegrift 6. Hebron 7. Woodlands 8. Keller 9. James Bowie 10. Leander 11. Marcus 12. Coppell 13. Waxahachie 14. Hendrickson 15. Westlake 16. Cedar Ridge 17. Prosper 18. Pearland 19. Round Rock 20. Seven Lakes 21. Oak Ridge 22. Duncanville I'd say Coppell and Reagan's spots could change mainly due to their early times, but when has either of them not made State Finals? Interesting to see how Leander does considering their performance at area, same with Keller. -

07 Marcus was astonishing. If they would've gone to grand nats they would have probably broken 98 (much like CTJ last year?). -

Huge battle between historical success and recent rise. This Saturday we will see if the panels bands that historically have made State and done well like Keller, Coppell, LD Bell, and Duncanville, or will they favor newer bands like Timber Creek, Waxahachie, Prosper, and Haltom that have not had as much experience with 6A State UIL (Waxahachie and Prosper with 5A experience).
-
So now assuming that only 5 go through, here are my predictions: 1. Keller 2. LD Bell 3. Timber Creek 4. Coppell 5. Prosper 6. Waxahachie 7. Haltom 8. Keller Central 9. Richland 10. Duncanville Keller - Pretty much a lock. Always doing well and this year is going even better. LD Bell - Strong band with great players. Cant seem them out of state this year despite maybe not an optimal BOA Dallas finish. Timber Creek - Early lead over Coppell must feel great. Young band with lots of potential to make State Finals. Coppell - When have they not made state finals? Should've definitely placed higher at BOA Dallas, and will be itching with redemption. Prosper - Great band great show. Grand Nationals should set them up for a nice finals approach, and they are looking strong.

IMO, LD Bell, Coppell, Cedar Ridge, Bowie, Round Rock, and Hendrickson are all fighting for the last two spots (assuming there are 12). -

A lot of this is when bands "break out". You saw Hebron do it in around 2012, Flomo did it in 2013/2014. Perhaps Timber Creek does it this year, who knows? Also bands have years in which they spike really high and die down, like LD Bell, Coppell, and Aledo.
