Sorry to bring back an old topic, but I noticed that all of you parents were primarily discussing college marching band. Have any of you had experience with concert band in college? I don’t plan on majoring in music but I would like to continue playing my instrument in college in a concert band setting, how is that?

So that's 3 Leander ISD schools that are going to midwest this year?

Does anybody know when they will release who is going to perform? I know some of the Texas bands' ensembles submitted.

I didn't know where to put this so I figured maybe this topic, but what do y'all think about bands that mic up their band to make them seem louder? Also, I sincerely apologize to all the bands and txbands members I might've offended with my first post on this topic, I did not mean to offend anyone and I wish all the best for all of the bands mentioned and will be much more aware of the effect my words could have in the future. I edited my first post so it's written in a much more positive way.

As my high school years are slowly coming closer to an end and college is nearing, I was wondering, what majors did y'all study? I notice a good number of parents on here and so I'm curious, did anyone major in music? Also, were any of y'all in college band? If so, how was it and how does it differ from high school?

I think it's partly due to the rotating storms in the gulf, but the Austin area has become quite humid the past couple of days and bringing lots of sweat everywhere.

There was a post just about the six(?) bands going to Grand Nats this year and making shirts, I cannot find it, does anybody where it is or the name of it?

HYDRATE Y'ALL, DONT DIEDRATE!! With Texas being the hot son of a gun it is, I thought it'd be interesting to make a discussion about weather; whether that involves complaining about the hot and humid/dry heat of Texas or the extremely rainy competition days. If I'm not mistaken, I remember last year being quite rainy and some competitions were running behind schedule because of it. Also, everybody's favorite conversation ice breaker is weather, so why not start a topic about it? This week's weather: - Austin: For once it's supposed to not reach into the 100's this week - San Antonio: Looking a little hotter than Austin but not too bad. - Houston: Looks like y'all are getting some rain this week with slightly cooler temps. - Dallas: hot and dry

I would just like to give a big thanks and all my appreciation to txbands.com, although I only discovered these forums two years ago, and only officially made an account late last year, reading all the posts and forums on here has been one of my favorite pastimes during marching season. I'm not leaving or anything, I just wanted to express my gratitude that a website for marching band lovers, especially Texas bands, exists and is actively used. With all that, I'm so excited for this upcoming marching season and look forwards to all the shows and predictions!

But real talk, I'm so excited for marching season!! Especially San Antonio and GN!

I know we're talking about all these bands form out-of-texas that are coming down to BOA SA, but I feel like BOA should be renamed to Bands of America (but mostly Texas bands)
