  1. Same, I really think UIL did a disservice to the bands in DFW. I understand they want to try to equalize the representation across the state, but when you have Area's like B, where it's fairly full to the brim with good bands, it becomes unfair to the programs. I don't think the kids from B,C, or J should get the short end of the stick simply to appease kids in other locations. I think what made specifically B and C so exciting the past couple years is the amount of bands that we had up for finals and state slots, and how intense the competition became because of that. These next couple years are going to intense for the opposite reason, simply due to the fact that multiple state caliber programs are going to get cut because they drained Area B.
  2. I haven't been able to find anything on it.
  3. It depends on how many bands make it to area. If there are less than 20, 7 will make finals. If 20, or more, 10 will move on to finals.
  4. So GPISD streams their home football games on Youtube, halftime and all, and tonight was the Martin vs. Grand Prairie game, and unfortunately I have to honest in saying that I was not impressed with how Martin sounded on the field. They weren't blended very well, there were a bunch of people sticking out musically, and they just overall didn't sound like they were tuned the best. I know it's still fairly early into the season, and that they're still working on getting used to a new director, but still. Grand Prairie, on the other hand, I was very impressed with. I think if they keep on working, they could very easily get 1's at region, and make Area.
  5. I think they're really clean for this early in the season, and (from my knowledge, I didn't go to the game against Legacy, and since it was away, there was no video of the performance) their first live performance of their competitive show.
  6. I think Berkner, Collyville Heritage, and Lake Ridge will fight it out for top three, SGP, Timberview, and Summit will make finals, as the Mansfield schools typically do well at this contest, and from the performance South gave last Friday, they're very clean for early season. I think Arlington will place in the top ten, same with Midlo and Kennedale, but I don't know who else.
  7. Does anyone know what happened to Rowlett's program? Back when I was in school they were one of the the four that were constantly making it to state from Area C, and last night they placed second to last!
  8. Anything on who made finals yet?
  9. There was a previous contest, where a few DNA's were listed on the score sheets.
  10. So Crowley is going to 6A Area?
  11. I went to the Region 2 UIL 6A contest today, and as usual, Hebron was absolutely insane, but a part from that the two best groups were, in my opinion, Braswell and Lewisville.
  12. Can they? Yes, absolutely. Will they? Probably not.
  13. So far, all of region 5, which is the Arlington, Grand Prairie, and Mansfield 6A schools, and every group but Lamar and Sam Houston have gotten 1's, while Cedar Hill hasn't had their results posted yet.
  14. Lamar ended up getting 2 1 2, so that's down them and Sam Houston.
  15. Just like to casually throw out that SGP won the Midlo contest this past Saturday, but I'm not too sure who all they were competing against.
  16. I was wondering if there was a way to find and buy recordings for past Concert and Sight-Reading UIL performances? If there is a way that anyone knows of, would someone let me know? It would be greatly appreciated!
  17. Really proud of Braswell for breaking into finals!
  18. Well, don't be shy, share with the class lol
  19. Have you gotten to look at the recaps?
  20. I love the way they sound this year, but their marching is what is hurting them in my opinion, which sucks to say as a SGP alum who worked with Ross and Laird when J. Wood was head. Were they cleaner today?
  21. I went to Region 2 UIL, and Lewisville was really good. Great overall sound, clean marching, I didn't hear anyone sticking out. I think they're building up to that level.
  22. In any kind of competitive performance art, the saying is you either want to go first or last, so you're either the first thing they see, or the last thing on their mind.
