  1. amen. We'd love to have more high level non-texas bands come to San Antonio, that way both texas and non-texas groups can learn something from each other. (of course, it's be interesting to see how everyone stacks up) but anyways, can you imagine Carmel's show design with CTJ sound? Vista Ridge's emotional appeal with Avon/BA's visual package? Awesome.
  2. the results of State 6A seem to show that Cy-Fair and Seven Lakes were far superior to Katy and Jersey Village... UIL needs better judges at all levels, but the judges at state seem to be more competent than the area judges, and State proved.
  3. blue springs was the only band at grand nats that had the EMOTIONAL appeal of a SA finalist.
  4. carmel is pretty clean yes, but they don't have the GE to compete with groups like flomo, or even vista ridge who can make judges tear up. Musically I wasnt all that impressed compared to hebron, reagan, and flomo
  5. blue springs is ridiculous. I would not be shocked to see them top tarpon springs or even carmel tonight
  6. broken arrow not in a medal position? no way! however, I can see blue springs upsetting carmel or avon
  7. i agree completely, but it's kind of odd when the area 1st and 2nd place finishers ( 32nd and 34th) at state finish significantly below the area 3rd and 5th place finishers (20th and 23rd). Yeah, the areas may not be balanced, but shouldn't the top bands in the area have placed higher than Seven Lakes and Cy- Fair by even a small margin at state, rather than SL and CF placing much higher? Just saying, that sure looks like "something funky was going on"
  8. really interested to see what Katy HS got, we heard really good things about them from our Area I friends and were kinda shocked that they weren't in finals!
  9. some of these rumours came directly from Katy band students
  10. no cy fair, and pearland higher than oak ridge and SL? weird lol
  11. A band that got 18th at BOA Houston beating 3 finalists? That seems odd. Regardless, we'll see how things go at state when the judges are more experienced.
  12. any predictions for who will qualify for state? here's mine: 1. Seven Lakes 2. Cy-Fair 3. James E. Taylor 4. Cy-Falls 5. Langham Creek
  13. Seven Lakes just scored an 88.6 at the Katy Marching Invitational, a 7 point difference from their score at BOA Conroe last weekend, and high enough to win Conroe as well.
