Looking forward to seeing performance order. So happy for Round Rock and Cedar Ridge in their placements. -

Well that's shocking. Round Rock and Cedar Ridge placing ahead of Vista Ridge! -

I was going to say the opposite. This was the sloppiest performance I've ever seen Vandy do, however they were still pretty great! Cedar Ridge had the whole thing down, from music to execution. I'm really excited to see how this is going to shake out. And good luck to all of the bands out there! -

This is the first time I've seen Westwood with their bricks on the field. Really changes the show. Come on y'all! Put your comments out there -

I'm digging the interviews that they are doing with the drum majors. Good job, Box5 -

Uhm...I only started watching when Vista Ridge came on. I feel like the music from Rouse was so much more powerful than Vista Ridge. Perhaps because the music is so much more familiar. Really lovely Rouse -

I remember when Mission had 1 high school. So did McAllen, Edinburg, PSJA, Harlingen, La Joya, etc. Everyone except Brownsville because they were a bigger city. So crazy to see Mission with two, PSJA with 6, Edinburg with 4, McAllen with 3, Sharyland with 2 and La Joya with 4. Nice for these kids to make the long journey up to Austin. -

I really love how Dripping Springs uniforms pop. Plus I love the white band shoes. I get why everyone goes darker with the shoes, but the white just stands out. -

This will be the first BOA Austin competition I won't be attending in 6 years. I've been doing a lot of personal and work travel out of state and I'm just flat out tired. Plus, I'd love to attend with my kiddo but she's doing a hackathon at A&M this weekend, so I'll be cheering from my couch. I'm anxious to see how all the bands will do this Saturday. Of course, I'll be cheering loud and proud for Westwood. -
Saw Westwood's opener on Friday. They are father along that I have seen them in years (yes even when my daughter was marching with them.) They are smaller than in years past, and perhaps that has everything to do with the fact that this show is super clean already. They still have that booming sound. It was so good that the Eastview band staff said, "they are this far, this good, ALREADY?!?!" New drill designer and change to their music makes this show so different than in years past. Westwood is all grown up.

Here is Westwood's Announcement. Seems like it's a bit different than what was announced in the spring. Join the Westwood Warrior Band as we go Beyond the Brick this season! Beyond the Brick takes you on a somewhat familiar yet completely fresh and innovative journey to the mythical Land of Oz. With inspiration from The Wizard of Oz and music that includes: Coldplay Miklos Rozsa - Concerto for String Orchestra Elton John The Rolling Stones Metallica Miracle Musicals

New Proposals

I feel like we had a discussion about this when I first got on this site. 5 million years ago, UIL was king and state was every year. Every school paid their dues and just dealt with it. That was also before big elaborate shows and when marching band focused on marching cleanly and not on putting on a production. When bands switched to focus on productions, it became EXPENSIVE for programs. Personally I like having state every year. Gives programs who don't do BOA more exposer to different things and music. However, I can see how doing BOA and UIL would make it very difficult for band programs every single year.
