  1. Round Rock’s Nats shows always seem to be drastically more theatrical and story driven than state years. I would love to see them continue their grand nats finals streak.
  2. I think someone already compared Reagan to Blue Knights but I agree and think both have a distinct almost ethereal feel to their shows. Also with very minimal prop use. And I would compare Keller to the Blue Stars. Both have been steadily on the rise after placing 11th in their respective finals in 2015. Both are also very well rounded programs with slight strengths in brass and guard.
  3. I’m curios to see if Drinkwater will still help them with the design or leave them on their own. And I don’t know anything about Hebron but I would love for them to focus on visual design/story.
  4. We’ll that sure would be a first! I feel like they are notorious for having a slow build through the season. Could possibly be an attempt to make sure they truly max out in SA knowing many others have much longer seasons this year.
  5. I would love to see The Woodlands return to the top this year. Every few years they come out with a show that is absolutely spectacular (2013,2016...hmm maybe there’s a 3 year pattern forming).
  6. Sounds a lot like the On The Waterfront show they did in 2016 with music from Bernstein. I’m not complaining though. That is one of my favorite shows of all time.
  7. I love how so many bands now have an Instagram account. Seeing rehearsal from different bands is just getting me so hyped for this season. Happy drill day!
  8. I believe that Carmel did lose their legendary color guard instructor so it will be interesting to see if those effects are noticeable.
  9. SA finals will be an absolute bloodbath this year (not like it isn’t one every year). I think SFA is making a good move going to St. Louis.
  10. Hebron is really like the Carolina Crown of BOA right now. Best brass in the game and difficult drill. But a weak visual design holds them back in GE. And while their guard is good, they don’t demand your attention. And CTJ kind of reminds of the Blue Coats. Probably the most innovative and forward-thinking band in Texas currently. However, I am very skeptical about the idea of doing a sequel show especially trying to do a sequel to the highest scoring super regional show of all time. When bands or drum corps try to recreate the magic of a previous show it rarely plays in their favor. Broken Arrow’s 2017 show just didn’t have the same effect that the original had in 2016. Carolina Crown’s show in 2014 wasn’t a direct sequel to 2013 but it borrowed a lot and also didn’t have the same effect. I desperately want CTJ to prove me wrong but I think trying to recreate magic mostly leads to disappointment.
