  1. My son will be at PASIC too! He’s with Granbury High School’s percussion ensemble.
  2. Best newcomer to the BOA Super Regional? Granbury?
  3. How do you know that? They listed finals bands in random order. Right???
  4. Wow! Welcome to Texas! Best of luck to you and your band and safe travels back to CA!
  5. What are the band programs like at UT-Austin and Texas Tech?
  6. Thank you. That makes sense. I was just curious about how a band might get disqualified between now and the state contest (although I realize there can be other factors that could cause a band to be unable to attend). I appreciate the info!
  7. Would the alternate band also go and be on standby in case something happens... or how does that work exactly?
  8. How does it work with the alternate?
  9. Southwest Brewer Birdville Burleson High Burleson Cent. Granbury Aledo Colleyville H. Legacy Chisholm Trail
  10. Any last minute prediction adjustments for today or still holding steady with the above prediction?
  11. My son is pit captain in Granbury. We are most definitely NOT a powerhouse, but we are super jazzed to perform there! Our band has come a long way in the past few years but still not quite where we want to be just yet. We may not make finals (which saddens me since this is my son’s senior year and will likely be his last performance—if we fall short at Area tomorrow), but I feel so blessed to have been a part of the marching band experience. Band kids are THE BEST! ❤️
  12. Gotcha. I’m trying to keep it all straight. Thank you!
  13. When I looked at Region 30’s scores, I saw that Cleburne got one 2 (from Judge 1) and Weatherford got one 2 (from Judge 3). Cleburne is on the schedule for Area but Weatherford isn’t? Just curious, but why is that?
  14. Wow, I’m excited they offer that! We really haven’t considered out-of-state universities, but my son does have the grades, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores to get some good scholarships. For us the main drawback is that he can’t take advantage of the Hazlewood Exemption if he doesn’t attend a state school in Texas.
  15. Granbury? (Or too far?) They’ve made some big strides the past few years.
  16. Wow, that’s more than I thought there would be. He and I will look into many of those. Thanks so much!
  17. Oh wow, that’s great. Thank you!
  18. My son is a marimba player and a senior. He want to participate in marching band while in college, and while he can play non-pit percussion instruments as well, he has never marched! He’s wondering if concert band is his only option in college.
  19. Yes, thank you! I know about alternate state years, but I didn’t realize they were 6A. Speaking of confusion (haha), is there a nice graphic somewhere that shows how the regions feed into the areas, etc.? My son is a senior this year (in Area F—that much I do know!), and I’m still trying to figure all this out. I was a choir girl in high school, but band is so different!
  20. Vista Ridge looked great at BOA Midland. I can see them being in the top 5 for sure.
  21. Any last minute prediction adjustments?
