  1. Same, BDs use of tank was... disappointing to say the least. Woodlands use of Cowboy Bebops soundtrack is so pleasing.
  2. WEDAR WIDGE 😈🌕 that is all
  3. They only cut the pre-show but there was problems the entire performance. They had electronic issues, tried to use some emergency connection, failed, told to start at set 22 and went from there. Speakers never worked (as we can hear from the harsh static).
  4. I felt that during prelims but it happened again today, my best guess is a copyright issue with NFHS? I feel as though bands have used audio clips in UIL during past years.
  5. Anyone know the reason why Keller didn't use the bicycle audio clip during State? Is it a uil rule or maybe an issue with NFHS?
  6. does $50 venmo make it less of a hassle
  7. I feel you...my partner and I basically sit on the same row and same seats be it for dci/boa/uil in the alamodome. Getting blasted with sound on the front center 50 is always a treat, I can watch drill from the screens or watch the uploads later.
  8. It seems like they've added a streaming option for high cam only
  9. I hate to sound like a broken record but I wish there was more focus on high cam shots :') as a routine front 50 spectator it's the only thing that allows me to see the full picture. Our BOA SA champ showing up and showing out, excited to see woodlands again too.
  10. When I first heard "The UIL is proud to present" I thought maybe it was just a mistake in the script...I can't imagine being at BOA and hearing "The BOA is proud to present". I'd rather have The University Interscholastic League...
  11. WE BEEN PRAYING FOR NIGHTS LIKE THIS LETS GO CR 😈🌕 I can't wait to attend San Antonio
  12. BOA just updated it...but may have forgot to clean up the bottom part
  13. 🥲 so proud of CR...I can't wait to see the prelims sheets this evening and I'm even more excited to see what finals holds in store
  14. A TIE?! CR with 2 (or maybe 1 1/2 sorta) 4A captions? I'm gonna faint...
  15. True, not all of course! Congrats to your boys to an amazing start of the season thus far, my partner and I are amazed at their work this season as recent alumni. Nats is definitely a major financial investment for alot of families even with the band being on an incline in fundraising as of recent years it's definitely costly. I'm just happy it's an idea that's back on board after not having been mentioned for a few years, the direction CR has been going as been very exciting 😄...also...if you know where parents are buying those horns and wings...lemme know I want some too lol
  16. Unfortunately the band was ready for the idea but parents voted no Hopefully things change in the next year!
  17. Agreed. As someone who grew up with a brother in a valley band, I'm extremely passionate for Southern Texas bands breaking into the North Texas marching field. I'm looking forward to JBAs season!
  18. It's possible to be top 8, JBA has been growing and a few of the students had expressed how they were excited for this season with the positivity they received over the last season. They placed 1st at McAllen with a 74.3--, similar to Leander yet entirely different marching environments so we can't go based off of numbers. Although, it's 2 weeks from now and Leander typically does a good job with improvement between competitions and they're likely going to take yesterday's feedback and build from there. JBA hasn't competed since McAllen so their feedback may be a little outdated assuming they won't have judges at their festival. I personally find it hard to say one might surpass the other but I think it'll be an interesting night for sure.
  19. It seems like DFW is their only BOA on the schedule this season, they have UIL planned otherwise! Seems like they'll be traveling to SA during BOA to watch based on their schedule (and potentially be ready to perform at state the following days). Edit: Oops, as VinoGirl said, they'll be at SA Super Regional.
  20. The comment is a general statement and display of placement trends between prelims and finals, not some kind of subtweet. This kind of behavior happens in both BOA and DCI, just a few months ago people were arguing BD doesn't deserve a championship title and the judges have no skill. In both activities behavior such as this is unsavory and unnecessary to both spectators and performers. Like all participants on this forum, everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone is able to respond to such opinions whether that's "direct" or a general statement like my previous comment. The world continues to spin on its axis no matter what the judges decide and at the end of the day the activity is about the students involved, not us on these forums. I hope you have the day you deserve and that you enjoy the rest of your weekend! As Courtney said on the field, back to bands! 🥰 Edit: Yes, I did react with a laugh and shortly removed it. I full recognize and admit it was an immature action. It's important to practice as you preach and said action was unnecessary for something so trivial. I apologize if you were upset by it!
  21. Exactly this, during the Box5 steam prior to prelims results the camera was focused on the line of drum majors. It's amazing to realize these performers are simply kids with responsibilities and lives outside of this yet they work so hard for what they do and make the activity so fun. I'm so proud of the progress some of the bands have made and it's only the first competition for some. Additionally, a lot of members of bands read these posts and see what adults are saying and it tends to be hurtful or aggrevating to feel like your placement wasn't fair. My partner and I were those same kids just a few years back so we know the trend continues. Competitiveness has it's place on the field, not an on online fourm with grown adults to be arguing about rankings or unfair judgement.
  22. People just have a hard time stepping away from their bias and refusing to come to terms their bands did not do as well as they did in prelims (lest we forget, multiple comments were made regarding concern over early season performances). So the next step is the blame the judges, despite the fact all the other bands moved placements 0-3 spots max (arguably normal) while Leander was the only one who dropped outside of that. Hendrickson: 12th -> 9th (+3) Leander 7th -> 12th (-5) Westwood 10th -> 10th (Same) Bowie 9th -> 8th (+1) Westlake 8th -> 7th (+1) Lake Travis 11th -> 11th (Same Round Rock 4th -> 6th (+2) Cedar Park 3rd -> 3rd (Same) Rouse 6th -> 5th (+1) Cedar Ridge 3rd -> 2nd (+1) Vandy 1st -> 1st (Same) Vista Ridge 5th -> 4th (-1) Edit: All bands did fantastic, and I'm eagerly looking forward to what the season has to offer (especially with some of our climbing contenders such as RR and CR) but dissing the judges and in part the band placements because your band did not end up where you wanted is not right.
  23. Prelims Score Sheet < Score sheets have the prelims placement of all bands edit: also yeah, the general recap like tubalord said
