Oh wow I didn’t even realize this. And not just beat them, significantly ahead of them by 2 and 4 points respectively. Maybe that early performance slot hurt them. Will make next week even more interesting though!

I feel like there’s about to be a whole bunch of movement in results tonight.

Side note, shout out all the band parents and volunteers out there. I enjoy listening to the "noise" when bands take the field and the army of helpers to get everything set up for these amazing performers to have a great show! Bravo to all!

In the judges defense, it's hard to remember scores for even 12 groups but when they ask you to give a number for each sub category (ww, perc, brass etc) I imagine it becomes even harder to remember scores as you are judging groups. This is why I'm not a fan of the 5 judge system used at area. 7 judge system is just better for everyone.

Let's not do this. This site is about discussion and no one wants people coming on here bashing other programs.

Oddly enough, Lonestar wasn't actually a state finalist in 2021. Although many thought they should've been. Regardless of that, I expect a Lonestar sweep.

I really hope this area changes next cycle. Just doesn't really seem fair that Area B is as tough as it is. Also looking like Forney would probably be 6A next time that comes around since North Forney moved up.

Conferences alternate every year. My money is on Cedar Park or Rouse. Considering Rouse beat Cedar Park at the area level but honestly with a whole new set of judges they could swap.

At least this year it'll be many days in between each contest. Couldn't believe that reagan, CTJ, and Marcus did all 3 within 9 days in 2021. 13 days for all 3 is still tough though.

Walnut grove projected to be 5A no? At least from what I've heard from pretty reliable sources

I doubt this will be much of a factor given the history of the Wakeland program but they will have a new head director next year so we shall see.

I wonder if this contest will become super 6A heavy instead of 5A's like it normally is. Since 5A state will be after 6A (If both happen) I assume the area dates will be flipped and this contest would happen the same weekend as 5A areas.

It’ll probably be an LISD sweep again but after what an incredible year Wakeland has, I hope they can keep it up and contend with Cedar Park for the gold. I expect bands like Hendrickson and Aledo to come out strong next year and maybe fight for a medal. Maybe even a Forney and McCallum.

Carroll has come a long way from the DFW regional but unfortunately I just don’t think their visual scores will be strong enough. Could see them sneaking in but there’s just so much dirt from individual to individual that I can see, can’t imagine all that the judges can see.

Man Avon was cookin tonight. Can't wait to see that Saturday. Rooting for Avon this weekend, been too long since they've won the eagle!

UIL tells the finalists bands that they won't be running the clock to ensure everyone having the best performance they can. No penalties given essentially.
