  1. Only the DCI ones.
  2. You can. It's the hardest thing you'll ever do. Anyone who chooses to do DCI is making a huge sacrfice, and I bet 99% of those people would tell you that it's worth it.
  3. I don't think that's the issue, because I don't know of any corps that would allow you to have your phone during rehearsal. The best reasoning I've seen for it is the camaraderie. And the closer you are to one another the better you're going to perform. Cell phones detract from that.
  4. So you're saying that adding electronics would make drum corps easier? What challenge is it taking out?
  5. Only one or two corps have that rule. That's a bad excuse to not try out for a corps. My two most recent summers: One where I talked on the cell phone every night, one where I wasn't allowed to have one. As a result, I made no new friends in corps #1 (I knew some guys going in though), and I made many many new friends in corps #2. And if you really need to, it's easy to borrow one from any of the 30ish staff/volunteers/junior officers whenever you want. No cell phone was one of the best things I ever did.
  6. Zach, I thought you guys had that policy now as well
  7. Next year is the 60th.
  8. Wow. I wonder how many other corps are adding significantly to brass.
  9. How large are the other sections going to be?
  10. SFA - http://www.foxhiliteshouston.com/videos/Vi...x?video_id=4960 You have to install their video software, but it's definitely worth it for the quality.
  11. Why?
  12. The music school at UNT is the biggest. As far as university size, it's not nearly as big as UT. Maybe that's what he meant. David Bertman, Eddie Green, etc. from U of H are the most brilliant minds that I've ever seen, as far as music education goes. I plan on doing graduate work there. Would have done undergrad as well if I could have.
  13. I would have to totally disagree with that statement. Most people in several finalist corps find scores and placements very important. I've been in one, and I know that there are many others. Even at a place where the great majority don't care at all (like the group i was with last summer), there's always going to be some that care way too much.
  14. hmmm, that's a tough one...
  15. They went from 5th to 7th, not 4th.
  16. If only they hadn't gotten 2nd to last in colorguard... (and this was in quarters)
  17. Because placements make or break how awesome the season was.
  18. I'll be there, feel free to come say hello.
  19. Well no, but if it isn't, then it has absolutely no merit whatsoever. It's more of a guess than a prediction.
  20. And you are basing these predictions on what?
  21. The show concept is very simple and easy to understand. I told my friend "this show was called machine, and they do a lot of robot and machine-like stuff", and she totally got it. As opposed to say... "cathedrals of the mind" or something.
