  1. what about Allen, they have the the largest band program in the nation but does not usually face competitive success. sure, having more kids would be very helpful, but it’s hard to make the assumption that bowie and gp would automatically place higher with more kids. i love bands like rouse and argyle as they are so amazing and manage to be amazing with a small number of kids, especially when competing with giant bands like round rock, vandegrift, and vista.
  2. 1. vandegrift 2. hebron 3. woodlands 4. reagan 5. vista 6. marcus 7. flo mo 8. coppell 9. pearland 10. ctj 11. round rock 12. keller 13. waxa 14. ld bell
  3. i feel like pearland is more of a lock than round rock, both and CTJ are pretty safe for finals imo
  4. im assuming this guy is trolling lolz
  5. 1. coppell i would be shocked if they did not win this thing for the third year in a row. they continue to push on an upward trajectory and are very clearly the front runner for this contest. especially as they are skipping out on the BOA side, and taking a lighter season in general, they should thrive in uil and be squeaky clean by this Saturday. 2. bell they are back on their feet after a short bump in the road, and this show is even better than last year's. they won prelims at boa prosper and had good scores in the performance captions. i think they will do great at this competition and should be a lock to advance to state. 3. timber creek every year this group continues to get better, it is so amazing. even though they have not broken into boa sa or uil state finals yet, i feel like this may be their year to accomplish one, if not both feats. they have proved themselves multiple times this season and should also be a lock for advancing to state. 4. keller i know keller may seem like they are having a rough season so far, but people forget that they are still keller. they have not missed finals at boa sa in nearly a decade and are playing the long game this year. if they clean up the mahler in the closer and just clean overall, they will do just fine. im getting lazy to write about each band sooo 5. keller centeral good show, similar to timber creek as they have proven themselves this season so far 6. southlake love the paris theme, reminds me of waxahachie last year, love the music in the show, visual package is questionable 7. duncanville havent seen much of them, but they did not peform as expected at boa prosper. but also, its duncanville, the kings of uil, so they will be fine 8. waxahachie 9. lake highlands 10. lake ridge i don't remember if there are 10 or 12 finalists i think spots 2-8 are interchangeable depending on the runs and how the shoes do in uil. the only thing that i am 100% confident in saying is that unless some crazy thing happens, coppell will advance to state.
  6. vandegrift is a lot of things, but mid is not one of them lolz
  7. 1. Vandegrift (mus, vis, ge, perc, aux) 2. Rouse 3. Cedar Park 4. Round Rock 5. Leander 6. westlake 7. dripping springs 8. lake travis 9. Brandies 10. McNeil 11. M&G 12. glenn
  8. im assuming coppell will do some crazy show again and end up winning again and sweeping most captions. i think last year the spread between them and vandy who got second was like 2 points lol.
  9. interestingly enough, both coppell and hebron are making their way down to the Austin counterpart of this contest, thunder in the hills in dripping springs
  10. there’s the very obvious ones like vandy 19, hebron 19 and 21, blue springs 18, etc. but my favorite of all time is coppell 2019. the vibes are immaculate, amazing drill, music and that trombone flugel duet is soo pretty.
  11. has anyone seen more of the dfw bands coppell, keller, marcus, wakeland?
  12. ouch rough draw for coppell
  13. again still could be wrong, but i think they are still joking about hebron. im sure walnut grove will have a great inaugural season.
  14. it’s very interesting, many of the powerhouse dfw bands have other commitments that are making them avoid boa sa. hebron and keller going to nats, flo mo marching in the Macy’s parade, and coppell heading to chicago in december. people have been saying that the UIL smbc change has “killed” the boa sa super regional, but we will have to wait until 2025 to see if the dfw bands decide to make a weeklong trip down to San Antonio for both contests (because 2024 will have boa sa and uil smbc on the usual 5 day span).
  15. i could be wrong, but i think they were joking about hebron
  16. do you know anyone else attending
  17. it’s because they’re submitting for Midwest and they are not likely to take two big out of state trips in one year. also i don’t think they had the success they were hoping for this year, so Shuttlesworth probably just wants more time to really cement herself in the program. coppell will be at nats in the next 2-3 years, but i agree that they are extremely overdue for an appearance.
  18. coppell is not confirmed, in fact they are most likely not going based on what has been said by students, parents, and directors. they are not doing grand nats or boa sa, only planning on state.
  19. i completely agree, Coppell was breathtaking at tith, like literally mind blowing. i think this is may be an issue in design or even just judges interp, def not with those extremely talented kids and instructional staff. this will def change in finals
  20. idk about cedar ridge but there’s chance, small for sure, for coppell to overtake marcus
  21. most of the big name schools get music before or throughout the summer so the kids have them learned and memorized by the time summer band starts
