  2. Can someone in the stands write down what happens at the award ceremony for prelims?
  3. Dang that sucks… Guess Area B has 29 bands with 1’s and is stuck at 5 Bands advancing to a state for another year.

  7. I think I made a mistake on this. After looking at some lists Townview is a 3A high school. However they are participating as a Varsity Combined band. I don’t know the specifics but that means that they are combining their student population with another school that they are performing with. This is backed up by the fact that they are on all the performance lists for region 20 6A. However what I don’t know and maybe someone else can help shed some light on is, if they get a 1 will it count toward area B’s state total? According to the rule books, Var-Combined bands can’t advance past region, and the rule book states that for every 5 bands that qualify for area one more goes to state. So if they got a 1, would it count toward the state total because that’s all you need to qualify, or does it not count since they aren’t allowed to advance to area? Exact wording of the rules: https://www.uiltexas.org/music/marching-band/marching-band-scoring-and-advancement-procedure 2. 5A/6A Certification. In Conferences 5A/6A the music area shall certify the two bands receiving the highest ranking in each conference to the state marching band contest. Should fifteen or more bands qualify for advancement in a single conference for the area contest, one band for each five bands that qualifed for advancement to the contest shall be certified for advancement to the state contest. https://www.uiltexas.org/files/policy/music-ccr-1100-1104.pdf (A) When students from a middle school, junior high school, or high school are added to students from another middle school, junior high school, or high school to form a pa rticipa ting unit, the resulting group is known as a combined group. High school combined groups may not advance past region competition.
  8. Welp, I don’t think waiting is going to do anything when it comes to making these predictions. The only contest between now and then is birdville which only LD Bell is attending of my top 4. 1. Keller 2. LD Bell 3-4. Timber Creek or Waxahachie, these two are the ones that are giving me the most trouble. With what I saw of Waxahachie’s show at BOA dfw, it leans toward that UIL style which I feel can do really well here at this contest. They’re overall well balanced between music and visuals, but I feel there are just weird patches of their show where the music or drill isn’t as clean as some of the other spots. With Timber Creek, they just need to really focus on cleaning their visuals. Everything else is in a place that it can do really well but if they can just get those visuals to a higher standard then I feel they could be placing pretty high. I don’t know much past that for the other bands attending, however I have heard good word about Lake Ridge and Pearce. So if I had to give a 5-6 then I’d give it to them (In order respectively) but I haven’t seen their shows so take that with a grain of salt.
  9. You’re right, and looking at the line up there will most certainly be at least 4 1’s in that region. So it looks like it will be 5 bands going to state this year.
  10. Which one is 3A?
  11. Yeah I felt that on the field. It was very hard setting up front panels at region 30.
  12. So that’s 8 1’s in region 5. Bringing our Area B total to 21 “1”s. For us to get 6 spots in Area B for state we would need every band in region 20 (9 bands) to get 1’s tomorrow to get us to 30 “1”s. Not impossible but a hard ask. Realistically this area will most likely have 5 bands go to state again. ? also does anyone know what happened with Grand Prairie not attending?
  13. Region 31 Results: Haltom HS - 1 Carroll HS - 1 Coppell HS (V) - 1 **Coppell HS (JV) - 2 LD Bell HS - 1 Trinity HS - 1 Irving HS - 2 MacArthur HS - 1 Nimitz HS - 1 7 Bands from this region qualified for Area Prelims. That is 13/17 total bands so far.
  14. Region 30 Results: North Crowley HS - 2 Boswell HS - 1 Chisholm Trail HS - 1 Keller Central HS - 1 Fossil Ridge HS - 1 Keller HS - 1 Timber Creek HS - 1 Weatherford HS - 2 So far 6 bands have made 1’s and qualified for Area Prelims!
  15. Welp I just stumbled upon the entire list. I was looking at Duncanville’s band calendar to see what competitions they’re going to this year and when I clicked on “Duncanville Invitational” it has the full list of bands in its description. Here is the full list of bands going to Duncanville: LD Bell High School Midlothian Heritage High School Lake Ridge High School Keller High School Keller Central High School Timber Creek High School Richardson High School Pearce High School Berkner High School Chisholm Trail High School Trinity High School North Lamar High School Waxahachie High School
  16. I looked up all the bands that went last time in 2019. Here’s what I’ve found so far: Going: Timber Creek Keller Central Keller Trinity Lake Ridge Waxahachie Not Going (Participant in 2019): Summit McKinney Boyd Prosper Wylie Rockwall Allen Hebron Unknown (Participant in 2019): Midlothian Heritage Haltom McKinney Marcus Permian If you know of any more please let me know and I’ll update the list!
  17. I’d love to see them again!
  18. As numerous other have also stated, I think that Keller is still more likely to go to state. While acknowledging HEB BOA and UIL all scored very differently. Looking at Carroll vs Keller at HEB, Keller came out on top. Especially in the music and marching captions which is where it matters if you want to try to compare them for UIL. Not saying Keller is guaranteed or that Carroll is bad, I just think that putting Carroll as likely and not Keller is a little unfair. When it comes to the other school, I feel I need to see them before I make any judgments. The 2 competitions I’m looking at to estimate how they’ll do is boa DFW and Duncanville invitational. DFW since that’s where most of these bands will be competing at and I can view them from box5. Duncanville since they are transforming their judging system to reflect UIL’s. Also, lot of the upper Area B bands like to compete there.
  19. 830 replies and 34 pages…Wow…
