Thank you for all these!! 😊 Did anyone see Highland Park? My kid was in that band program from 2019-23. So curious as to how they did. I know they are smaller now.

It’s exciting and also exhausting!

I’m thinking about the bands that performed at prelims, went to Region, and then are back at finals. Wow…what a long day!

Amazing performances by everyone. I don’t envy the judges. Man, I wish there were 15 finals spots.

I think HP could take percussion caption. We’ll see! Good luck to all!

This should be a really fun competition! I hope I'm able to go. I'm also excited to see how Highland Park's new show does - it's a bit different than years past, with a heavy jazz focus. Also excited to see Prosper, Rock Hill, Lake Highlands and several other bands I haven't seen before. And I think we might get decent weather. Woot!!

Looks like HP is not doing Mansfield anymore. They are participating in a drumline contest on this day instead.

Highland Park has added this to its band calendar. I think it may be the first time they've ever participated in this contest - or at least the first time in a long while.

Oh mannnn...I am really hoping SLC doesn't get penalized. They have had a roller coaster of a season and I have been hoping that this might be a really happy weekend for these kids and their program. 🥺

What???? I'm not able to watch at the moment...

So the guy that’s the announcer for all the UIL comps…I feel like he’s been the lone voice for years. Maybe even for BOA? I wonder what his story is! Can we meet him? LOL. I feel like I know him!

I am getting a better picture of what is going on via the TXBands.com live blog vs. the live stream. Good grief! Yes, I'll send my thoughts into UIL. What a shame! Especially for families of band members who live in other states! So many disappointed grandparents and relatives out there! 😞

So here is a question…is SASR more competitive than Grand Nats? Is that so Texas arrogant?? But might it be true?

As a parent of a kid in a small band (HP) I agree with this. Yeah, it’s hard to go on after The Woodlands, but the kids honestly don’t fret about this and I don’t think we should either. The kids say, “Hey, let’s show everyone what we can do!” And that’s it. My favorite shows today were from giant bands, and they earned their way to finals and I’m cheering for them!

Meee too! Cannot wait to dig into those scores.
