Yes, but the reason they missed finals in SA was due to their visual score. -

Cedar Ridge struggle last year was all visual. You can look at the scores from BOA San Antonio. It looks like they made the needed adjustments and thank goodness! One of my favorite band's they always have unique shows. -

Every band in the first block surprised me especially the heavy hitters. I am amazed by the length of everyone's show and how clean they are this early in the season. -
I am doing mine based on panels this is what I got: Panel 1 1. Vandegrift 2. Rouse 3. Cedar Park 4. Cedar Ridge 5. Westwood 6. Westlake Panel 2 1. Vista Ridge 2. Ronald Reagan 3. Round Rock 4. Bridgeland 5. Claudia Taylor Johnson 6. Leander 7. Lake Travis 8. James Bowie 9. McNeil 10. Winston Churchill

I was able to see Glenn! Great sounds coming from this band! They are still growing their tradition which all new groups have to overcome. Philip Gieger of westfield once told me that any band that wants to have a lasting legacy must have a tradition that you can see in their marching and hear in their playing. He used ronald reagan as an example which was his biggest competitor in 2000's. Glenn will no doubt follow in the footsteps of other Leander bands. There must be something in the water.

I think churchill was great they have potential but I think they performed behind dripping springs. So now we will have to see how McNeil and Westwood perform. Churchill is small for 6A which I think hurts them at this contest. -

From the first block Cedar Ridge was outstanding! I am not sure what they did but it felt like a whole new show. As of right now no school has matched them in music. Round Rock is clean but they are missing something not sure. We will see where the judges place them. -

I think it is one purchase for finals and prelims. 🤔 -

Very interesting! looks like Cedar Ridge will be setting the bar which could be a good or bad thing for them. I remember back in 2014 when Hendrickson performed first and they got 1st in prelims! then they got knocked to eighth place in the finals. or that time Round Rock went first in 2012 and missed finals. CR will have to be on their game for prelims but I still think they will have an easier path to finals than other competitors. -

You really just never know what's gonna happen when it comes to Area D That's what makes it such a fun contest to watch! No matter what happens I expect everyone to bring their A-game which is why it makes it hard to predict every possible outcome. For example, CTJ may not be as strong as they have been in the past but they're not going to come to Area and just give up. The same goes for CR their show may not be as compelling as last year but they always give a stunning final's performance and they made state since 2014 so it's hard to bet against them. Round Rock has a lot of drive and you can tell from their region performance they really want to make this year count. Dripping Springs made it last year which shows that they have the ability to compete and give a clean show. More than likely DS will be a state qualifier.
