  1. I was stunned by McNeil they have one of my favorite shows this year! This Area will be competitive and that's exciting. Ronald Reagan is the favorite here they are performing at a level only rivaled by a few bands in the state. Cedar Ridge they are still a little messy but they have improved so much from BOA austin. I would be shocked if they are not second at this contest. Round Rock they are clean and in my opinion the show that is the most UIL designed show of the bunch. They are in the running for a medal especially since CTJ is not performing strongly this year. In my opinion if CTJ does take one of the 5 spots that leaves room for westwood and McNeil to fight for the final slot. However, anything can happen.
  2. I predicted this outcome as well. Usually the larger groups take time to refine themselves both visually and musically. That is not to take away from Rouses success and I am sure they will be an easy lock for finals at BOA SA. They are in panel 1 which has all the bands they have faced so far including vandy.
  3. I know region 26 is this Tuesday.
  4. This by far one of my favorite leander show designs in years. Everything fits and the music compliments the drill in so many clever ways.
  5. Cedar Ridge was fantastic! Color guard is stunning and their music has improved since BOA Austin. They are in good shape for next week UIL area and should be battling Reagan for 1st. I will be interested in seeing if CTJ will come back from their BOA Katy placement.
  6. With so many names missing from this contest it looks like a few groups will get an opportunity to make finals for the first time this year! After watching BOA Katy I can see that it is highly competitive this year. However, it looks like momentum is still on the side of frequent finalists. Top 7: The Woodlands Ronald Reagan Vandegrift Marcus Rouse Vista Ridge Cedar Park Bottom Half: Cedar Ridge Claudia Taylor Johnson Lake Travis Leander Bridgeland Round Rock Westwood This is somewhat how I see things playing out. We could see CTJ getting better by the end of the season but that really applies to all groups. I am interested to see if Rouse keeps the momentum this year we have seen them place high before then other groups leapfrog over them which I hope isn't the case. I think Bowie has an outside chance but on this list, I have them 1st out.
  7. I agree! For example in prelims I had CR weaker than other 4A schools yet they were only beaten by Vista and vandy in their class. So based on their performance in finals which was way better than prelims they should be in contention for 3rd place I would be more worried about Rouse than LT. However, you never know what the judges will favor.
  8. Amazing GE from Cedar Ridge! The musicality of this group is incredible even though they are smaller than some 4A schools. A little more cleaning and this show might once again give them another medal at state.
  9. Lake Travis woodwinds gave me chills! So lush and precise. Great Job I can see why they made top 6.
  10. Leander has so much depth to thier show. Its high energy never a dull moment. The way every set compliments the concept is a master class in marching show design.
  11. Westlake always makes you feel their show! I can't explain it but it feels like a movie lol
  12. Westwood! Really surprised me here. In my opinion "Ballad of the unhached chicks" is a very intimidating piece to play on the field and timing is usually the culprit. They really played the heck out of this music tonight. You can tell these kids are excited to be on the field tonight.
  13. The emotion in Bowie's show is gorgeous under the finals lights. Bowie is one of the programs that made me love this activity! And still they play like the always have. Good look with the rest of the season.
  14. Love dripping springs music selection this year! Great performance they have a lot of potential. Musically they are a finals band for sure. A little more cleaning visually and this show will end the season strong.
  15. Rouse and Cedar Ridge will probably battle for a medal here which was surprising cause i thought CP would be in contention.
  16. Cedar Ridge tends to be a late bloomer so i can't wait till they clean and refine their sound. They will no doubt be a finalists.
  17. Oh lord back to back great performances! I expect CR to blow my face off and to show of their outstanding percussion.
  18. Westlake always had that classic feel. Love it!
  19. MG Johnson was very interesting show concept. There is alot of potential for this group In the coming years. Great work!
  20. Wow Brandeis great opening fan fare! Not really into western themes but i loved the atmosphere of the show. Once again really impressed.
  21. Wow everyone is doing great today! I am really impressed by Texas bands just pushing the level of competitiveness over the years.
  22. Love the drill design from Leander this year! Great concept.
  23. Vista has been the wild card for me! back in Austin BOA i said this is going to grow if they made all the effort to do so. This finals performance was outstanding honestly the top 7 have all been amazing not really sure if there will be any movement from top to bottom.
  24. You have to ask yourself would you say the same thing to a football team? There is honor in winning and losing it's best to teach your children this now and learn from those experiences. What will they gain by saying "What's The Point"? If your band doesn't want to compete they don't have to but just imagine telling your kids that they wont travel or have a life time experience. Marching band is not always about competing.
  25. they announce finalist but sometimes prelims scores tend to float around.
