  1. We have a band lock-in, and at this we set up tvs and X-Boxes/X-Box 360s in our our school's choir room. Halo(2) is the name of the game. We have 16 people max playing. I played once, and I was "Baby Jesus"(not my X-Box)...everyone was yelling, "KILL BABY JESUS", that's how bad I am at Halo. It was fun though.
  2. Leander HS!
  3. Well, I'm in AP Physics, AP English III, IB French IV, AP US History, and Pre-AP/IB Pre-Cal. Would've taken AP Statistics with "Nancy", but I didn't. Should've had all IB, but decided to drop a week before school started. I'm glad I did, though it does make me feel stupid when all my friends are in IB and I'm just in AP, then I remember how I have atleast a little more free time than they do. That's when I laugh...
  4. Grand Nationals = Awesomeness
  5. I think it might have been the slide reed. It's a trombone that uses a bassoon(or something similar) reed instead of a mouthpiece. Atleast that's what I've gathered. It should be on the contrabass website.
  6. French and English. 4th Year. Never did and never will take the AP French test. Was gonna take the IB French test(our teacher only teaches to the IB test, not the AP), but I'm dropping out at the end of the semester. That will move the French 4 class from 4 people to 3. Yeah...
  7. I was drooling when I found this website Contrabass.com. Holy crud. Octobass Flute, Octo-Contrabass Clarinet in BBBb, Contrabass Saxophone in Eb, Tubax, Heckelphone, Contrabass Oboe in CC, Bass Shawms, Contrabassoon, Great Bass Sordune, Great Bass Rackett, Contrabass Sarrusophone in BBb, Contrabassophone, and more. I actually downloaded some of the recordings(unfortunately, not Octo-Contrabass Clarinet recording), and some are pretty good, the Serpent one isn't, but it's a bass trombonist playing it, so that much is to be expected.
  8. Yeah, it happens every so often, but for the most part I'm allowed to atleast rest, maybe not sleep because of the people around me, but rest.
  9. Shut up. As for Kyle, that really made me mad, I'm over it now(it was a frickin' year ago...).
  10. Bb Clarinet, BBb Bass Clarinet, and BBBb Contrabass Clarinet. Sort of: Flute and Mellophone(barely) Dreams:Eb Clarinet, A, C, D, Basset Horn, Alto, Contralto/Contra-Alto/Eb Contrabass(not sure of the spelling), Octocontrabass(only one in the world), Octocontra-alto, etc. *drools*
  11. I know I'm not the only woodwind player who has wondered this before, and I wanted to make sure that somebody who was unsure about this topic had a place to look at for information. Anyway, the problem is that most woodwind players don't know what they want to do when it comes to Drum Corps. They don't know if it's better to go brass, guard, or just to stay out of it all together. If you have any helpful information, it would be greatly appreciated.
  12. During shotgunwedding's story, on a different bus, the parents too had a leaky bus, so they got to ride home in ponchos they had got from Epcot when we went to Disney World. Also, Salesmonkey, do you remember the camera and the 'beating' the freshman up infront of the bus at Lonestar last year? How about Tony the Tiger and Monkey(don't remember which competition that was)? Trombones are probably the best section to go on a bus ride with(atleast in our band). You're never bored(maybe annoyed because you can't get to sleep, but whatev).
  13. For us, "hand check" and "ride the roller coaster" go interchangeably. If some one were to yell out, "HAND CHECK!", everyone would put their hands in the air above their heads(with the exception of the joker saying,"Hold on, I'm almost done!"). As you can see, we have co-ed buses. The only problem with this is if you get the chaperone with a stick up their bum who won't let you lean on your boyfriend when you are really tired because it's 11 at night. I couldn't have slept anyway because I'm on what we call the "Trombone Bus"(boyfriend is [trom]boner). Good times...songs and stories.
  14. Holy Holy Holy. I didn't know we were that close. If only we hadn't drawn first! Even if we lost by more, we didn't have much luck that day, except that everyone was concentrating on the performance, unlike they usually did. It was a great way to end the marching (competition) season anyway.
  15. It's what I like to call being classy. Which is a very good thing. (Now if only you could help the rest of your student body stop graffiting our cars during football games and braking bottles on the surrounding area.) I was just happy with how we(Leander) did. My Freshman year was Corners of the Mind Year and we made 2nd Alternate, so to do better than that was good. If you remember that show, you know why we were happy to do better.
  16. All of our bassoonists are expected to be able to play their tenor/alto saxes. Of course they're not expected to be as good as the people who have been playing them for a while, but still. Same thing goes for oboes. They march flute or pit(2 of ours in pit, 1 in flute). The only time you probably wouldn't march and play at our school is if you switch from woodwind-brass or vice-versa, such as I did my sophomore year(bass clarinet to mellophone, quite a difference). Oh, and most of our bass clarinets don't march with neckstraps. 6 out of the 8 march without. Myself and a freshman use them (I'm a clutz, so I had to take the necessary precautions, but I have gone neckstrapless before). Some of our saxophones have tried to go without, but got in trouble by the directors, or so I've heard. I never saw the people I heard about try to do it, but I'm sure it would be great.
  17. Wow. Our band has 8(5 guys and 3 girls) bass clarinets, and about 6 tenor saxes, but sadly no bari saxes, although I'm sure some of our altos and tenors would love to. Two of our bass clarinetists(that makes 10 bc's total) are on clarinet right now, and atleast 3 of our tenors are bassoonists(our other one is on alto). I might be corrected on this by some other LHS people, because I'm not sure of the number of tenors.
  18. Our school marches bass clarinets, but not bari saxes. How about yours? Also, any instruments that you march that not a lot of other bands march?
