  1. I’d change to BOA type scoring. Ordinal is ridiculous. And I didn’t say anything about the rule for advancing. Keep the bad judge rule there. Area champion should take into account all judges.
  2. What’s the point of five judges then? Two judges opinions are completely thrown out. Cypress Woods got a 1,1,2,2,3. Bridgeland got 1,1,1,4,4 Woods was 1st or 2nd by 4 of the 5 judges. Bridgeland got two 4ths. This isn’t a bad judge rule. This is a preference so all judges’ views should matter.
  3. This is a crappy way to lose the championship for Cy Woods. This is a five judge contest, not three.
  4. I believe it would have been judges’ choice to break the tie.
  5. Cy Fair was stopped mid-show and we are now in a lightning delay.
  6. Cy Woods parent here. As far as I know, we were never scheduled to go to Dayton this year. We have a brand new director.
  7. Cypress Woods’ show is indeed about chimney sweeps. It’s is called “My Day Will Come.”
  8. it’s a rule everyone plays by. Many shows end 15-30 seconds early to provide some cushion. By pushing the show to 8 minutes, it’s a risk/reward. If it’s not enforced, they get the benefit of extra show elements that they get judged on.
  9. I agree but how do you do it when the UIL scoring system is a ranking?
  10. Just found this in section 1107 (state competition). Performance regulations as listed under Section 1105 shall apply to the state marching band contest with the following exception: Any band that leaves the field in less than five minutes or fails to complete its performance in eight minutes shall be disqualified.
  11. What does “one rating” mean at the state level?
  12. I’d hate to see them go out on a technicality.
  13. Waxahachie finished after the dome clock hit 0:00. Is that an automatic DQ?
