Bands of America

It is announced because placements/scores aren't everything in the activity. No matter what placement you got....you are all winners in life. It's a phrase that BOA has used for many many years. It's usually said right before you break ranks to acknowledge fellow band members after the Finals awards ceremeony. -
From what people have been telling me, the main problems were during their closer, Russian Christmas Music. The drill was extremely plain and went nowhere, and musically...it wasn't as powerful as the 1987 version. But all of that has changed. They scrapped and redesigned most of the drill, the colorguard completed their entire book, and a lot of musical changes were made in RCM. This was posted on the DrumCorpsPlanet (DCP) Forums the other day.... ------- SCV's 4 hour rehearsal block the day after getting manhandled by Phantom at Pacific Procession in San Jose was totally dedicated to Russian Christmas Music, both visually and musically. Out of respect for SCV, I have decided NOT to detail the changes that have been made to the show, but I will say this..... At the end of rehearsal, as the light of day had expired, the corps was asked if they wanted to run RCM one more time (keep in mind that this was a "free day" for the kids) and the corps in unison responded with an emphatic "YES!!!!!!!" There were nothing but smiles amongst the staff, marching members, and audience. Visual Caption head Ron Hardin said it best when he proclaimed to the corps, "You now have a closer." He could not of said anything more true. ------- I'm glad to hear that morale and optimism is high over at Santa Clara.

Yeah, BOA Long Beach, CA should be on there since a Texas band will be competing. We should only do BOA competitions that Texas bands are in attendance at.
-
Yup.

Count me in.

Let me know about that when it becomes available. Right now, I'm working on an article for the 2005 Texas Marching Band season. I will also be writing reviews for BOA Houston & the BOA San Antonio Super Regional.

On the DCI Central Division Predictions page....there should be two pull down menus since the competition broken up into a two-day event. One menu for the Friday night corps and the other for the Saturday night corps. On the DCI Midwestern page....the Finalists option needs to be expanded to 12 spots since it is a DCI Regional. Just thought I'd let you know.

If the Mandarins & Pacific Crest are scoring in the upper 60's on the West Coast, I can only imagine what's going to happen when you factor in the Blue Knights, Spirit and Colts.

Sixth College World Series titles, two in the past four years for the Longhorns....very impressive. Has anyone noticed that Texas universities have dominated NCAA Baseball lately? College World Series Champions: 2002: University of Texas-Austin 2003: Rice University-Houston 2004: University of Texas-Austin (RUNNER UP) 2005: University of Texas-Austin

Shoot, I second that!!

Division II/III have different judging sheets than those of the Division I corps. You can't compare them. Example.... 2002 DCI World Championships: Division II/III Finals: 1. Magic of Orlando - 99.05 Division I Finals: 1. Cavaliers - 99.15 11. Magic of Orlando (moves up to DI) - 84.85

Just for the DCI Regional & World Championships. DCI Southwestern (San Antonio) is a Regional.

The James Bowie band that has made BOA Regional Finals over the past several years is from Austin, TX. They went to BOA Huntsville last year. The other James Bowie HS is from ARLINGTON, Texas.
-
I just noticed something on the DCI predictions page....there are only 10 Finalist spots. DCI takes 12 corps to Finals at the Regional & World Championships.

San Antonio Dci Contest.
mbui replied to LordGiggles's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
I'll be there. And like Aaron said earlier, I'll probably be at the DCI Houston show also since I live in the area. -
Everyone who knows me knows that I'm a huge Santa Clara Vanguard fan. Their 2000 show left me in awe. It was nothing but emotion, passion and power. That is what the activity is all about. But other than SCV...I'm a Cavaliers fan, and as of late Carolina Crown & Bluecoats. I love the direction that those two corps are going in.
