  1. Here you go....
  2. Drum Corps is now in Texas. El Paso took place last night, tonight's show is in Midland, Houston & Dallas tomorrow, and San Antonio on Saturday. Talk amongst yourselves.
  3. July 14th - Albuquerque, New Mexico 88.25 - Cavaliers 84.80 - Santa Clara Vanguard 80.45- Blue Knights 75.00 - Madison Scouts 73.70 - The Academy
  4. That's a neat design. I like it. I have one minor issue... Can the right half of the state be white and red just like the flag?
  5. I'm not all up on my Dallas geography, but do you live in Frisco or Denton? Because there's a theater in Lewisville that's showing DCI Quarterfinals.
  6. That was before DCI changed the rules. After all the ties that happened in 1996, 1999 & 2000, DCI changed the rules after the 2000 season to make sure that ties cannot happen again for first place. I explained it all here a while back: http://www.txbands.com/forums/index.php?sh...ost&p=61739
  7. Pete Weber is currently Vanguard's drill designer. Barber's "Medea" was performed by Star of Indiana in 1993. In addition, Stephen F. Austin HS also performed Copland's "Grohg" as their opener, Barber's "Adagio for Strings" as their ballad and Barber's "Medea" as their closer back in 2005. Great show. They placed fourth at the Houston Regional and San Antonio Super Regional that year.
  8. I know Manny Maldanado is now at new Lady Bird Johnson HS in San Antonio, but what happened to Michael Floyd? His color guard work and design is outstanding and I thought Cedar Park's guard this past year was a step up compared to years past. P.S.: Nolan and Code Black are Independent Winter Guards that compete in WGI. Nolan Independent was based out of the Dallas area and Code Black is from Houston. I'm not all up on my winter guard stuff, but I think Nolan is no longer around. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
  9. Music of Samuel Barber and Aaron Copland. Cool. What are the musical selections? And, who is your drill designer again this year?
  10. It's explained at the bottom of the page. But yeah, that's the change in how many spots they moved from two weeks ago to this past week. Just get the difference between the June 24th-July 1st score and the July 1st-July 8th score and there you have it.
  11. They are average scores from contests from the past week...July 1-7. Just add up the scores from that week and average them out.
  12. In addition, SCV was scoring in the 81 range until they put their closer on the field. That's when they dipped back down into the 80s because it was so dirty. Then again, those are just rankings that don't mean much. We won't know a thing until everyone gets together at the DCI San Antonio Regional in a few weeks. But, once they clean that show up and everything starts to click, Vanguard will be in good hands. They have a GREAT show this year.
  13. Glendale, AZ - July 2, 2008 Santa Clara Vanguard 80.600 Phantom Regiment 80.500 The Academy 70.000
  14. Wait, so that means no BOA's at all for Richland this year? Or, are you guys going to sign up for BOA Arlington instead? If not, that means that this will be the first year that Richland won't be at a BOA competition since the band started competing in the circuit in 1996.
  15. Agreed. I generally don't mind voiceovers, but this doesn't stand out as something as "cool." It comes across as borderline cheesy. Fantastic music but man...voiceovers in Cadets sohws just don't grab me. Same goes 2007. Now, voiceovers used in Tarpon Springs 2000 & Westfield 2000 were not only effective but entertaining and emotional.
  16. June 27, 2008 - Clovis, California World Class 79.80 - Blue Devils 78.20 - Santa Clara Vanguard 67.70 - Mandarins Open Class 71.30 - Blue Devils "B" 70.80 - Vanguard Cadets 57.20 - Mystikal
  17. Only Ronald Reagan 2001 & 2002 were Cirque du Soleil shows. Amazing ones too. 2000 was "Perpetual Motion" (their first competitive year) and it contained music from Karel Husa, Philip Sparke & Mark Higginbotham.
  18. It's been a while since I've followed up on rules in DCI but if I'm not mistaken.... In DCI, ties are broken for first place only. If there are corps that are tied at say 8th place then the corps will remained tied at 8th place. How do they break the tie for first? They use the sum of ordinal placement for each sub-caption...very similar to UIL's scoring system at the Area & State level for marching band. For example: Group A: 1, 2, 1, 4, 6, 3 = 17 Group B: 2, 3, 2, 1, 2, 2 = 12 Group B wins. You know how it goes. If there's still a tie after the ordinal rankings, corps with the most number of caption wins is declared the champion.. The tie-breaker rule rewards the performance and corps that is the most consistent.
  19. Regarding the two corps out west, SCV & Blue Devils, I heard both of their shows.... They're hot. I really like the groove at the beginning of BD's show and SCV's drumline....yeah. Wickedly awesome.
  20. Due to the economy, on-field judges (Visual Performance Individual & Brass) will not be used until July 4th. After the 4th, the full panel of on-field and press box judges will be used. Corps are still being judged by the judges in the press box (except for Color Guard)---Music General Effect, Visual General Effect, Visual Performance Ensemble, & Music Performance Ensemble. As for Percussion, I don't know if the judge was located on the field or in the press box.
  21. Word. And, I still can't stop gushing about it.
  22. Off topic but... Yeah...Brazoswood's show is going to be awesome. Love the music.
  23. Hey, where are you sitting for the Regional on Saturday? I'm going to be upstairs. By the way, you gonna hit up Lulu's again with us?
  24. For San Antonio, I'll be sitting in the upper deck in section 314 with a few other people. P.S.: I wish SCV was coming to the Houston show instead of Dallas on that Thursday.
  25. Drum Corps makes its annual tour through Texas in less than a month. Which contest are you going to? Where are you sitting? Talk drum corps here.
