Nobody is blaming those bands... They were all great... We're blaming the judges and the scoring system. period.

I think it's funny, and very telling, that almost none of our predictions were anywhere near close... It just shows that what the vast majority of the community and "people in the know" want to happen doesnt... sad.

The big shock for me was that only 1 band from Houston made it... Langham... Nobody from area F made it... Spring, Brazoswood, Woodlands, etc.... I was like "...what?" Same thing with Austin... I don't get it... I won't name names, but there were at least 2-3 bands in finals that I KNOW a LOT of people agree didn't belong there...

UIL sucks. The system is flawed. I will not name names, but a lot of bands who should have been in finals weren't, and a lot of bands who made finals shouldn't have... It's obvious... If you've been around the activity, you'd see that... UIL has the most archaic, nonsensical scoring system I've ever seen... This is truly a disservice the the many participants... Also, the judging was ludicrous... How on earth can the placements produce that much inconsistency.... A thurough investigation and re-evaluation of the current scoring system needs to happen immediately. Changes need to be made to insure that these kinds of gross discrepencies quit happening. All I want to see is consistency. My opinion, go to a BOA/DCI style format. This is the national standard. I don't see why Texas needs to operate on a different set of rules and criteria than the rest of the country...

Well, I just wish UIL would adopt a system like BOA and DCI... Their system is usually pretty accurate... And trust me, I know about inconsistent judging...

It will probably end up being a judging nightmare like it always is... Your band's placements will be: 1, 26, 5, 374, 13, and you will win state. I hate UIL.

I'll be honest. I thought the judging was pretty much accurate... Spring was pretty good, just barely better than Brazoswood... Brazoswood got 2 1st place votes, so they were right up there... I was pretty dissappointed in the Woodlands... The show is a little weak for such a great band, and the thing that hurt them the most was timing problems... They were all over the place in parts of the show... Ya, they're consistently a great band, but look, you got beat. No use in whining about it. If it's such a big deal, just do better and don't blame the judges. Also everyone is complaining about Pearland. I honestly didn't have them in either... The whole "We beat Brazoswood at Galena Park" argument doesn't work either, since if you look at the galena park recaps, one judge had Brazoswood as a 90 out of 200 for drill design. Are you kidding me? I bet he mean't 190 and forgot the 1. Even then, Brazoswood would have won that contest with even 30 or 40 points more in that caption... That plus the judges were nobodys... Look at BOA, that was the first legitimate read on all these bands, and those results look pretty much like what happened last night... End of story...
