  1. There are 15 bands in the area total. Because United South got a 2, that brings the number down to 14 (so far). Every 5 bands counts as 1 band advancing to state. Therefore, 2 bands will advance to state from this area.
  2. UIL Region 14 United - 1 Alexander - 1 LBJ - 1 United South - 2
  3. These are the results I found for last night, and these are the 6A bands that competed: 1. Edinburg 2. Weslaco 3. Hanna 4. Harlingen 5. PSJA 6. Los Fresnos 7. United 8. Veterans Memorial 11. San Benito 13. United South 14. La Joya 21. LBJ 24. Economedes
  4. City of Palms Festival 1. Edinburg 2. Weslaco 3. Hanna
  5. UISD Festival 1. Alexander 2. United 3. Martin San Benito 1. Edinburg North 2. Edinburg 3. Weslaco US Bands 4. PSJA
  6. Overall Results from UISD Festival 1st - United 2nd - Alexander 3rd (3-way tie) - Hanna, San Benito, PSJA
  7. Finalists (in order): Hanna United Edinburg PSJA Harlingen Alexander Weslaco
  8. Someone told me United’s show has music entirely from Mahler. Can someone confirm? If that’s the case, I look forward to hearing them! Mahler has incredible symphonies.
  9. There is no doubt Alexander will retain the Area G title again this season. From what I have seen online, the band has improved so much from last year, so I am excited to see how they do at area. I am unsure which bands will take the 2nd and 3rd spots to state. I have seen videos of Hanna online, and they sound great with their musical selections this year. They won 1st place overall at the San Benito marching festival a few weeks ago; I think we will see Hanna advance to state again. Also a few weeks ago, United went down to the valley for the City of Palms festival where they won 1st place overall as well. I haven't seen videos of United's show yet, but given they were on top of PSJA (2nd overall) and Edinburg North that night --two bands that were above them in area finals last year -- shows they have improved from last year and really want that state title. Not to mention, Edinburg HS got 3rd overall at the same competition! I think we will see them in area finals. There's a lot of awesome stuff happening in the South. I wish our area could take more than 3 bands to state, but a lot of 6A bands last year have gone down to 5A unfortunately. I'll post my finalist predictions when I see more area bands online, but right now, this contest is going to be so intense.
  10. This area contest was intense! Congratulations to all finalist bands, especially to Harlingen, Hanna, Edinburg North, and Alexander! Keeping the Area G title stored in Laredo!
  11. 1. Alexander 2. Edinburg North 3. Hanna 4. Harlingen
  12. 7:30 - Hanna 7:45 - Laredo United 8:00 - Harlingen 8:15 - La Joya 8:30 - Los Fresnos 8:45 - Laredo Alexander 9:00 - Weslaco 9:15 - Edinburg North 9:30 - La Joya Lincoln 9:45 - PSJA
  13. Wow! United opened up the 2nd block with an impressive performance. Big sound all around, and their horn soloist played really nice. Hope to see them in finals.
  14. Correct. I don't know if the judging has changed for this year, but if I'm not mistaken, bands will be judged on marching and music.
  15. I can see them retaining the title, but a lot of other bands like Alexander, Hanna, and PSJA have stepped up their game this year. I definitely believe these 4 bands will advance to state from the area. I think Alexander and United will get top 2, but that first place spot is going to be tough. Both programs are highly successful, so it's going to be competitive! Plus, it would be awesome to have 2 bands from Laredo return to state again.
