  1. there really needs to be an option to pick Superbone in here...
  2. i liked ffx's music, "to zanarkand" is beauuutiful. and then legend of zelda has some pretty awesome music too.
  3. god quinn you put jorge in your sig... haha. i was impressed with a few fishys and dissapointed with a few, but that happens every year. im more worried bout next years.
  4. i just sent an email to the NAMI san antonio expressing how i felt. basically, to make yall apologize is to make yall throw away all you did this season. despite what the show said or if it offended someone, yall worked your butts off to make the show as perfect and amazing as possible. if you have to apologize that, then there's more wrong with society than i ever thought before. i hope that these guys will realize theyre starting something big over nothing.
  5. just practice alot. alot alot. alot. and try and find a director or someone to just listen to you play every week or so, cuz the worst thing to do is develop bad habits early on with buzzing and embochure. i developed two bad habits in sixth grade (not using my tongue and puffin cheeks) and i still deal with it sometimes. not to scare you. haha.
  6. quinn what are you doing on txbands? lol. and thats jenny. btw.
  7. this will happen every year i guess... sorry to churchill for havin to deal with this. for every show with a bold new idea, theres some sorta organization wantin to point out fault in it. i personally didnt see anything wrong with it.
  8. dude... bout time someone did some Nobuo Uematsu. Aeriths theme is pretty ballin. Now we just need to get some "To Zanarkand" from FFX goin' and we've got one awesome ballad. haha. sad to hear colleyville didnt make it, i was really rootin for you guys. you all put out an excellent show and surprised many people this year.
  9. to comment on the chant thing, yeah, that's a football thing we do at CP to get the crowd hyped. it's just fun to do and we decided to start it cuz we were bored waiting for the announcements. i'm sorry if it came off as self-hype, it wasn't meant that way. and jedi, thanks for sayin that. i can't count the millions of times i get on here and sigh cuz someone, from our school or anothers, is being stupid and sayin stuff that makes their band look bad.
  10. thanks for the props, jedi. its pretty awesome that we won, there were alotta tight drumlines competing. and sorry bout all the crap a few people from cp are starting, i hope yall know that we dont want it to reflect all of us and its just a few people who are still sore from this year. as i know yall know, we got really attached to the show this year, and some people are making their opinions about our placing and others placing more voiced than others. so yeah. peace yall?
  11. wow. this topic is epic win. haha. i wonder if the marching and playing arguements will ever stop...
  12. i wasnt asking if our difficulty was being bashed or anything, i just thought it was an interesting comment. and to the parent from haltom, that must be tough being in the same area as them, and i wish i could've seen yalls show. it was nice seeing you guys at comps and stuff this year. and on the difficulty thing, yes, i believe harder drill should be rewarded, but only to a certain extent. if a band marches difficult drill that they just cant do, then its not right for them to be given points just cuz they aimed higher. however, if they march it *well* but not *as well* as a band with easier drill, thats even footing in my opinion. wow. state really does bring out all the opinions in us. haha.
  13. wow. i guess i missed alot... haha. and frhs, i'd like to know what you mean by bands that have "hard marching". duncanville had some difficult drill, and i'd like to think we did too.
  14. hey, im not a leader but if i can just put my word in as an outsider... punishment isnt always the best way to get them to listen. itll most likely just make them be mad and then theyll be grumpy all rehearsal. my leaders are pretty good actually, they call us out and stuff, but like rpd said, they lead by example, and thats the biggest thing. freshmen need an example to look up to, and thats the biggest thing in my opinion.
  15. i looked through a few pages and didnt see some of my favs so i'll put em up... Star Of Indiana '93 -Don't even argue. This show was intense. SCV '89 -Beautiful music, loud impacts, and the end always gives me chills. Cadets 2000 -Watch the drum breaks and the insane trumpets, and you'll know. and i might stand alone on this, but... SCV '08 -I always have this stuck in my head, and the breakdown is freakin intense.
  16. yeah i love star of indy's version of it. the blast version was alright, but nothing beats it on the dci field. but 210? thats pretty fast at that point. haha.
  17. i was just thinkin of the first two or so minutes of baphomets. has anyone ever done any shows based on rock music? like forreals shows, not spirit shows or anything.
  18. if the guy from churchill wanted to know, we start 180, then progress to 186, and near the end we speed it up to 198. its pretty insane, haha. and ya, great job to all the bands that went. sorry to those from georgetown and connally, i know both worked extremely hard this season.
  19. hahha dude these are awesome ideas. BTBAM is pretty nice, and Dream Theater too. i put some thought into it, and i thought of a good Mars Volta set-up: Opener: Day of the Baphomets (have the bass up in the pit playing, with the guitar checks charted to the brass, and have the band be doing a tribal dance on the field in unison, then the huge hit) idk bout the ballad. Closer: Eriatarka (nuff said, this song is epic, and if done right could easily be an amazing closer) and Selkies would make an intense show too.
  20. I guess I'll go out on a limb too... One of my ideas has been one based around the music of The Mars Volta. Possibly one about Across The Universe. and I've always wanted to do something like Reflections of Earth.
  21. I don't know what question you're talkin about, but I've definetly done that before... haha.
  22. Glad to see some CP love. Hahaha. But yeah, I wanna see some surprises this year too. Marcus is amazing, but that doesn't mean all the other bands should be immediatly ruled out.
  23. Yeah I can see why yall miss Pape, he's a really cool guy. And those pics are pretty tight, do you have any from when we were playin Metal Shop?
  24. Hey yall, I've not really ever posted on these boards, but something my band did tonight really made me wanna put it up and out there. I'm in the CPHS band, and as some of you may know, there's been a lil animosity between us and Georgetown because of some comments made on both sides after last year's Westlake Marching Competition. While both our directors are extremely good friends, members of both bands bashed the others over something really pointless in the first place. So tonight, we had a Thursday night game against Georgetown, and our directors had us, after the game, play our shows standing still for each other and then have a lil meet-n-greet between bands. The thing about tonight was, while many people just blew it off as a pointless waste of time we could be using to catch up on homework, I decided I'd jump into the fray and try to meet new people. And, I actually met some really cool people in Georgetown's band. It was actually the highlight of my night, was meeting them, talking to them, and playing Metal Shop with them. So really, I think it was a great way to stop animosity and show us we're all a buncha band nerds together. Sure, we compete and wanna win, but at the end of the day, we're all just tryin to be the best musicians we can, and I think more bands need to do this in the future. Thoughts?
