  1. Shout out to Killeen’s Chaparral and Shoemaker High Schools on going to area this year! Chaparral just opened this year, and Shoemaker went for the first time in a long time! They keep improving each year.
  2. Ah makes sense, I saw Cedar Ridge at the top so I thought you had it in ranking order. That being said, I think Cedar Ridge is taking it this year
  3. Heights and Midway have stepped it up this year, but I don't see Dripping Springs scoring that high to be honest.
  4. From Region 8, these bands will go to Area: Harker Heights Copperas Cove Midway Temple So weird with only 4 from this region going due to 5 schools going from 6A to 5A
  5. Is Buda Johnson opting out of Area because they are going to Grand Nats?
  6. 6A Area D is geographically weird to me. Waco, all the way down to San Antonio, and as far east as College Station. the Bryan/College Station 5A's arent even in Area D
  7. Region 8 - 6A Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, Midway, Temple each earned a 1, and are Advancing to Area Bryan earned a 2 Region 8 - 5A Shoemaker, Chaparral, Belton, Lake Belton, A&M Consolidated, College Station each earned a 1, and are advancing to Area (Congrats to Shoemaker for getting a 1 for the first time in multiple years!!! Congrats to Chaparral for getting a 1 in their first year open!! Waco University HS, Killeen, Ellison, Corsicana, and Bryan Rudder each earned a 2 Waco HS earned a 3 Region 8 - 4A China Spring, Gatesville, Jarrel, Madisonville, Robinson each earned a 1, and are advancing to Area La Vega and Salado each earned a 2 Hillsboro earned a 3 Waco Connally earned a 4
  8. I can try and get Region 8 4A, 5A and 6A
  9. Martin probably did get a 1, no way they didn’t. I saw them at BOA DFW, and they made finals.
  10. Will be interesting to see how 6A Area D gets affected with Belton and Hays going to 5A and Weiss, Buda Johnson and Dripping Springs going up to 6A. Shout out to Cedar Ridge though, they are deadly this year Can’t wait to see the Region 8 results, I can almost guarantee that Harker Heights, Midway, and Copperas Cove are going to Area. Heights scored its highest in school history at last year’s Area contest. They’ve stepped it up this year too
  11. ALEDO GOT A 2???? WERENT THEY AT STATE LAST YEAR?!?!?
  12. To me it’s so weird that Region 8 only has five 6A bands now after all the changes in Belton, Killeen, and Waco ISD. Will be interesting to see how 6A Area D pans out.
  13. My high school was in 6A Area D, so I got my fair share of “holy ****” watching the Austin/San Antonio bands. Today was my first time seeing the DFW Bands, and… HOLY ****! Hebron, Marcus AND Flower Mound are so much more better in person than on camera, and they’re even so great on camera too! I was also really impressed by quite a few of the bands that arent in Finals. Congrats to all of the bands that competed tonight!
  14. The same thing happens pretty much each year in Region 8, but this year might be different with multiple bands dropping from 6A to 5A, we'll see how that pans out this year xD
  15. Highland Park could probably score higher tbh, they are very good. Not that this matters too much but they are SO loud for such a small band
  16. Ah that makes sense, could've been force of habit or something. All of the Region 8 4A/5A/6A bands all perform at the same place and same day anyway, for the 5A and 6A bands I could probably predict pretty well who is going to Area
  17. Didn’t see this one on here so am making one here. We already know the heavy-hitters are probably going to be here, ie most of the Austin/San Antonio 6A’s in the Area. Since Weiss moved up to 6A they’ll probably make it too From Region 8, I predict that Harker Heights, Copperas Cove, and Midway are definitely making it, and Temple and Bryan could possibly make it as well.
  18. Ellison is 5A now, then along with the other Killeen schools (besides Harker Heights) were dropped down to 5A, and Chaparral opened as 5A
  19. I feel like Vista Ridge and Round Rock were lowballed this year, both were really good, and personally I think Round Rock deserves more credit than they get
  20. And they did this with only freshmen and sophomores in their band in 2020. Let that sink in.
  21. I agree that Area D will be very interesting. Chaparral will provide some relief to Harker Heights and Ellison, which are currently way above capacity. Those two will either be really small 6A's or really big 5A's, depending on UIL's cutoffs, and depending on how many people who are in the Chaparral attendance zone stay at their current school. Killeen and Shoemaker will probably remain 6A, but will just be smaller 6A schools. Belton and Harker Heights did pretty well at Area this year (I'm not sure about Belton but Heights got the highest scores and placement in their history, and were 1 ordinal point away from Belton) ranking 11th and 12th respectively. Seeing them going down to 5A will make 5A Area D interesting, especially with Dripping Springs and Weiss going up to 6A, and Lake Belton moving up to 5A after going to state 2 years in a row. Correction: All of Killeen will most likely be 5A except maybe Harker Heights unless they raise the cutoff above 2285
