there was one thing that really bugged me and some spectators nearby. mckinney north erupting in cheers and applause when LT was announced as 5th place. while i understand that it obviously meant that they had advanced to state, not one other program cheered- not even argyle, who'd been snuffed of a state spot just one year ago and had finally made it back. it is my understanding, as was taught by my directors and taught at many other schools, that you do NOT cheer when another band is announced below you. LT placed 5th in this insanely competitive area, so let their accomplishment be recognized, or let their placement one out of state be mourned, either way. you simply cannot burst into cheers and make the celebration of another program about yourself. i think ultimately that lack of maturity and restraint falls upon the directors. win humbly.

proud alum of lone star. their highest placement here ever, and beating both Keller and LD Bell by 2+ points is no joke at all. look forward to seeing them in person at prosper next week, and see them wreck some stuff in uil!

I don’t think Wakeland is getting rezoned to 6a. The intention in Frisco ISD is for all of the high schools to remain 5a as far as I know

Top 3 is a total tossup for me. Could see Wakeland, Rouse, or Cedar Park winning. I would say Rouse has more of an advantage though. Cedar Park always pulls all the stops at finals. Wakeland has been kicking tail on some 6a Finalists this season.

I think this should stand with any band. Not just my own. No band that makes Area is mediocre. Certainly no band that makes Area finals is mediocre. What makes a band that qualifies for state in one of the hardest areas in the state mediocre? Or “very mediocre”?

I’m so glad to see you like our show this year! Primal last year was a fun show and very exciting. Though I will say since I marched that show it had its generous share of “park and bark”. Compared to previous years we are moving exponentially more, but I guess if you say it’s mediocre then that’s decided.

pretty consistent placements between prelims and finals. no big jumps, just 3 groups swapping down/up 1 placement.

Also Panther Creek beat out Canton, last year’s bronze medalist. Don’t see them out of finals, plus the ordinal points were VERY close at Area finals for the top 4 with a big gap to 5th and lower. lone star added a ton of new stuff to the show and is a different band since missing finals at Bedford. will be interesting to see how they fall in the mix of aledo, forney, and BC

also i do not see wakeland outside of the top 3. leander was significantly lower than cedar park and rouse. to be honest the top 3 will be an absolute mess imo. could see any of those three (CP, rouse, wakeland) winning.
