  1. Big congrats to Forney! First year in 6A and qualifying for state. I had a feeling they’d be alright as those prelim scores seemed like outliers. Bravo 👏🏽👏🏽
  2. Area C just wrapped up meaning all Areas are finally accounted for! 1) Sachse 2) Waxahachie 3) Forney 4) Duncanville
  3. LETS GOO DVILLEEE AND CONGRATS TO SACHSE HOLY CRAP
  4. Same man. Ever since Dville went from 3rd in prelims to 8th in finals in 2021, my trust issues have been through the roof 😂
  5. Was about to ask the same thing. It seems like a top/bottom split but the announcer said “by random order” if I recall correctly
  6. Finals Performance Order 7:30pm: Lake Highlands 7:45pm: Rockwall Heath 8:00pm: Berkner 8:15pm: JJ Pearce 8:30pm: Richardson intermission 9:00pm: Forney 9:15pm: Duncanville 9:30pm: Waxahachie 9:45pm: Rockwall 10:00pm: Sachse
  7. Dville: I’ll try to keep this unbiased but great job. The trombone and trumpet duet did a great job in that Beatles section. I thought every section did a great job holding their own and the crown set with the Finale from the Six musical is a fitting ending. Have really enjoyed watching Dvilles progress and hoping for another great run tonight and one of those state spots!
  8. Will be out eating with the girlfriend so I probably won’t catch these next few bands until Dville. Sorry!
  9. Rockwall: Cool trumpet fanfare! They’ve cleaned a lot since the first time I saw them. That Mars moment where the entire ensemble marches in unison caught me off guard in a good way! This show is packed to the brim with detail and if you blink you might miss something. These kids are hungry and state is definitely in the cards with the right run tonight. See you in finals.
  10. Irving: Nice job on those runs high brass! Great job trumpet soloist leading the ensemble into the Yellow hit. Super exposed stuff there performed very well! Some nice trade offs happening between brass and woodwinds here in the closer and outstanding job from the color guard soloist in the ballad. Great job Irving!
  11. Lake Highlands: First thing that pops to me is the color palette and symmetry in the design. Great job on those runs mellos. Lots of cool stuff going on with the guard and the ensemble does a great job of utilizing the entire field. That trumpet and trombone duet really showed out. Awesome job probably one of my favorite visual packages today so far.
  12. Tyler Legacy: Digging these uniforms and that cool visual moment when they turn around in the opener. Lots of curling visuals that make the drill feel very free flowing as performers make it from dot to dot along with some cool choreo as well. Nice job!
  13. John Horn: Nice job mellos and soloists in the opener. Always love hearing Adele on the field and that gliss in the ballad was chefs kiss. Great job y’all!
  14. Garland: Great use of props, I really liked the moment in the ballad where the entire ensemble encircles the cage as the ballad climaxes. Speaking of ballad, really enjoyed hearing Bluecoats 2019 there. Woodwinds stole the show for me here. Great job Garland!
  15. Waxahachie with a super solid run. First time I got to see their closer and it did not disappoint. That woodwind small ensemble is fantastic. Richardson was quite good as well. I really like their interpretation of Aurora Awakes and I thought the singing in their closer worked well. Just finished watching North Forney and I was super surprised by them as this is my first time seeing their show. Super powerful hits from this group and would be surprised to not see them again tonight.
  16. From like 2012-2018 Timber Creek was 1 away every single time and even lost a tie breaker in 2018. They definitely went through a lot so glad to see them making state consistently now with breathing room at that!
  17. Makes sense. Probably driving back early so they don’t get back super later. Anyone from Travis have any insight?
  18. There’s one in the Area C forum. I think it’s on page 7
  19. There’s usually a link on the DMI website for directors who want to register their band (unless they changed it this year which I doubt). I’m sure it’s not super selective if there is some criteria to register as they were able to fit Wakeland in that one year last minute and it’s not like this contest has 25+ bands where time slots would be an issue. I could be wrong tho that’s just been my understanding of it. Did you hear something otherwise?
  20. Fair enough. The show is a celebration of the Dville band’s 70th anniversary so it’s understandable that someone may not be super touched by the show if they don’t already have some emotional connection to the program (or any other reason one would not be touched by a show). I think it’s a cool show regardless of if you have some past connection with the program or not but different strokes for different folks you know.
  21. Yeah this is what’s giving me the most trouble right now too. I’d give the edge to very very slightly to maybe Dville and Sachse but my opinion could change depending on how well Rockwall does at DMI
  22. ALL bands to finals via Dville’s instagram
  23. These should be the judges according to the website for those of you that were asking/curious Ted Wemhoff - GE/Visual David Brandon - Music/Visual Tom Harrington - Music/Visual Tyler Sammons - Percussion Kelsey Gleason - Guard Joe Dolkos - Music/Visual Wayne Downey - GE/Visual Stan Mauldin - Woodwinds Eric Sabach - GE/Visual
  24. Dville has always been a solid group so a 2nd place finish at Birdville isn’t an anomaly
