UIL Area B 2022
CosmicLimbo replied to SEAstar23's topic in Past Contests, Events, and Festivals Archive
The funny thing is, this wasn’t actually as far off as we thought it was and was closer than a lot of our actual predictions 😂 he got Duncanville, Martin, and Lake Highlands right. He was also closer to Keller than the rest of us, and gave Keller Central more credit than most of us. -

Disaster of a show is really harsh imo. They started a little rough last season but finished out with a 3rd place finish in prelims here and 8th place in finals. They didn’t make state but it was still a respectable show and finish. Also they were going through some director changes that year (and this year as well I think) -

Early mornings draws are hard not entirely because of judging but because performing at 7:30 in the morning isn’t necessarily easy for a program. When I performed at 7:45am at BOA DFW my sophomore year we had a call time of 4am and were doing a full run at 4:30am before loading buses. It can be logistically stressful to perform earlier than later. And my situation isn’t even that bad compared to what other programs driving from farther out that had a football game the night before have had to do. -

Duncanville got 1st pretty easily at the US Bands Burleson regional albeit it was kind of expected for them to win here so gauging them against other Area B groups is a bit difficult. As for Southlake, they definitely are still in the bubble to make state as BOA results usually don’t align with the end results of this area. The only 3 programs Im feeling solid about are Keller, Waxahachie, and Coppell but even then this area could still find ways to shock us. -

Tell me about it. I'm a Dville 2020 alumni and competing in this area was always incredibly stressful and nerveracking just because of how hard it is and how badly each of these groups want to succeed. Especially in 2018 when all chaos broke loose on this forum following the finals results. Good times -

This would honestly be the best case scenario unfortunately this area has almost always sent 5 as there are quite a few bands that end up getting 2’s. I’m hoping for 6 this time around but even that’s pushing it. -

I’ll take a shot at this 1) Keller: can’t remember the last time they didn’t outright win (or place 2nd) this competition and I don’t see things changing this year. 2) Coppell: talk about spectacle. This show is a BIG and I really wouldn’t be surprised if they managed to overtake Keller this year. 3) Waxahachie: ever since moving up from 5a to 6a, they’ve settled into this area quite well. They seem to play and move better every year and I see them finishing comfortably in 3rd. 4-5) Timber Creek and Carroll: TC has one of their most ambitious shows to date and with Carroll building off the momentum from last year and planning for Grand Nationals, I can see these programs finishing in 4-5. 6) Duncanville: although they missed state for the first time in their history last year, this program still has a really good track record here and tends to over-perform peoples predictions so I wouldn’t be surprised if they snag this last spot (if they take 6 to state) 7-8 Keller Central and Bell: I actually hope I’m wrong about this cause I really want to see both these programs return to state. State these last few years without Bell feels so odd to me. 9-10 Haltom and Highland Park: I could be very wrong about these as I haven’t seen either programs shows yet so take these placements with a grain of salt. I do know Highland Park is a newcomer to this area. Waxahachie broke into the top 5 seamlessly when they moved up so maybe Highland Park will too however that’s easier said than done. In the bubble for finals: Lake Ridge, Mansfield, Berkner, Richardson, and Bowie. -
2022 BOA Midland (Oct. 8)

Dang kind of a bummer I thought they had a pretty good chance of doing well (and maybe medaling) at this regional. -

I think Duncanville may have pulled out. They have the US Bands Burleson regional on their calendar now instead.
