  1. fair enough, wakeland was so insanely good that i just expect that of them and so i probably subconsciously forgot about their volume while i was thinking about how loud reedy was
  2. liberty really wowed me, they improved so much in the last year - their new director is really doing something right. also memorial was so so clean, i really enjoyed their show. gutted for LT since its the first time in school history that they didn't made state, but they should be so proud of themselves for a great performance and being so close to argyle, who i thought had a practically perfect run. MCKINNEY NORTH WAS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THE LAST TIME I SAW THEM, i honestly enjoyed their show more than lone stars, although lone star was still insanely good. but the loudest band of the day was reedy, the power they brought was genuinely amazing, im excited for them to continue their upward trajectory!
  3. people really seem to forget how notorious LT is for cleaning up their show an insane amount at the last minute 😭 its happened every year since they opened, and although they clearly did worse than expected at wmi, people are counting them out way too easily. same with mckinney north - their show design is getting redundant at this point but its not a fluke that theyve placed so well the last two years. they get CLEAN. 1. wakeland 2. lone star 3. lt 4. argyle 5. north 6. reedy 7. emerson 8. walnut grove 9. the colony 10. independence or memorial i know this prediction might sound too strictly based on past seasons over this year, but that’s only because people underestimate the impact that late season cleaning has on perennially high placing bands. with that being said, i wouldnt be too surprised to see some placements get shuffled up considering how good area b 5a bands have gotten - reedy really impressed me at wmi, great work! and emerson too, i love their show design good luck to all the bands at uil and at area next week!
  4. i went around and watched some of the preview shows for these area b 5a bands and i have to say the one that surprised me the most was lebanon trail - they sound great like usual but it seems like they're finally straying from their typical classical-type show and playing a more intense and aggressive opener. its too early to tell how the competition will play out (especially since i watched lone star and mckinney north too and they also sounded great) but at least for this point in the season LT sounds much more promising than previous years with their current show👍 if i had to make a prediction based solely off what i saw, i would bump lt up a little compared to what other people here tend to predict
  5. Slight correction: LT made State Finals in 2019 (their first 5A year) after winning 1st at Area B. 2019 had 3 FISD Finals appearances (LS 12th, LT 8th, Wakeland 3rd). Very tough competition this year as the program recovers from their (relatively) weaker 15th place finish in 2021.
  6. personal predictions after watching the fisd marching showcase and some early season videos: 1. flomo 2. lone star/lebanon trail 3. lone star/lebanon trail 4. lake ridge 5. mckinney boyd 6. mckinney north/lovejoy 7. mckinney north/lovejoy 8. reedy 9. walnut grove 10. allen if LT can clean a little more (and maybe put more of their show on the field) this week i can see them taking 2nd from lone star, but i would not be surprised at all to see them lose that race for 2nd this week. also seems like lovejoy tends to start their seasons off quite strong and then lose their momentum by area so i can see them beating north this week - either way i'm sure north will have a strong showing later this season.
