  1. Recently graduated from Forney High School a few months ago in 2024 (marched clarinet all 4 years). I currently attend University of North Texas & marched in the Green Brigade this past season. Nowadays, I am a stressed out college freshman who also performs in UNT’s Concert Band (yeah i know a lot to handle), but I love band a whole lot!
  2. Here’s my take: It’s honestly not as much of a deal people make it out to be. I don’t want to get into the nastiness I had experienced when the rule changes were announced cause that’s a different ballpark. Anyway! According to Tarek (2024 Troopers Head Drum Major) via Instagram stories, the harmonica solo in 2023 took so many loopholes to make the harmonica solo possible. The rules gives a clear possibility for solos to be listed as such and no more dancing around the rules for that to be possible. If they have to include woodwinds cause eventually someone wants an oboe solo, then so be it. If they want an aux solo, then so be it. It was bound to happen eventually, genuinely you cannot prevent the inevitable. As for woodwinds being soloists, corps will probably do what the Troopers (yes another example) did for the guitar soloist this past season. He was contracted as a mellophone, but they were able to find use in his ability for the guitar. It is very likely a woodwind soloist wouldnt be contracted for the sole purpose of being a soloist, they’ll get contracted for a brass instrument (like baritone) but prove their abilities on other instruments (like clarinet or sax). The possibilities are genuinely endless. I feel this gives more opportunities and insentive for woodwinds to do DCI: by giving them opportunities to prove themselves on their originating instrument. Along with that, there will be so many more creative opportunities these next few seasons, and I certainly am excited on the direction corps may take with this rule.
  3. i believe this is barlett’s highest placing grand nats (please correct me if i am wrong)
  4. man, im so proud of forney. i mean first year as 6a and they’re already in state? i know next year they will be back for revenge. i am extremely gutted for the seniors, who are some of my good friends, knowing they’re ending their season on this note. however, i know they are geniunely so proud of how far they’ve come.
  5. i was talking to current clarinet member about it because it set off alarm bells. glad yall turned it up for finals, so so proud and congrats!!
  6. forney’s prelim scores scared me a little not gonna lie…
  7. i know my friend will be estatic tomorrow at gb. ive been a fan of sachse ever since state 2021 and even before that.
  8. ugh my heart was beating so fast watching my friend’s stream of results. i was bawling before thenZ
  9. Forney, I do not even know where to begin. I am so so proud of you guys. Although, I sometimes wish I was still there, I know the current members are taking care of the band and carrying on the legacy last year’s seniors left behind. Seeing you guys at Bedford and the parent performance a few weeks ago made me so emotional knowing how happy I was seeing you all. I know all of the directors are going to put in the work to make sure JSR is “dome ready”. Go blow the Dome’s roof off for me, I love you guys and I’m cheering from Denton. 🫶 Your least favorite Clarinet player, Kai
  10. max used ro be 5 before the split, now im not so sure
  11. forney is my alma mater so ill be crushed if they miss state.
  12. oh god im gonna be sick to my stomach
  13. there was a judge last year (not saying what comp we were at) who scored us somewhat low cause we werent selling the point correctly. safe to say we turned it up for finals, no doubt they’ll do that again this year.
  14. certainly feels personal, i hope they look at it cause im appalled. the directors probably talked about it already so hopefully it gets fixed cause thats certainly uncharacteristic. (im an alumni of forney)
  15. in all seriousness: i am so nervous for the contest! first time not watching hs bands in 9 years which feels weird (besides the occasional pop ins for stream). everyone did so good tonight that i just enjoyed and soaked in the moment. im so proud of everyone who performed, especially my friends who go to some of these finalists schools!
  16. I agree but also I think: 1. Flomo (supposed to be good) 2. CP 3. Baylor 4. UNT (they were there just in your head) 5. Hebron
  17. i unfortunately only watched the morning block, so the only band that caught my eye was cedar park. can i just say i love their show so much? i know its cedar park, but ugh they know what to do 😭
  18. exactly! a lot of programs had wonderful shows, and especially the first timers in state! with more years under their belt, lake belton will be a program worth keeping your eyes on!
  19. knew i was missing something, but UGHH! i hope you had a good run! i miss the dome so much already.
  20. love yall and miss yall fr, hope yall do good at area!
  21. they’re probably much better now, they’ve dropped a comp to get better, and it showed during parent performance. whenever they’re at area, they’ll show it. i know the directors are handling any parts that seem unbalanced or dirty.
  22. okay after replying to 2 people im gonna make predictions (yes subjective and anything can happen). 1. Waxahachie / Forney 2. Forney / Waxahachie 3. Dville 4. Sasche I am not denying Rockwall is good, and truthfully with the right run, they could get in, but chances are slightly low.
  23. forney in first?? I LIKE! (all jokes, predictions are subjective so what you may like may not be anyone else’s cup of tea).
  24. two wrongs dont make a right. you represent your program when you make comments, and those words make or break the integrity and core of the program itsself. be careful with what you say online because it can bite you hard.
